ANN reported on Marvel drafting Madhouse into working on anime for 4 of their properties. So far Wolverine and Iron Man are confirmed. Trailers from Comicon are here:

i definetly know in my heart that the ironman anime will really measure up to the old ironman cartoons instead of the stuff their pumping in nick.

Well Iron Man one looked quite good, I wonder if the final will be as flashy. On the other hand there are a few problems with the Wolverine one, I don't quite remember him being so, umm that, or the magic theme.

Marvel is a horribly cynical company. They don't care about a good product, they care about money and selling on current fads.
I also hate how Marvel's response to "Japanese comics/animation are outselling American ones" is "Hand over all the production to Japanese people!" Yes, that may keep the Marvel CEO's and execs payed, but it short changes our local comics industry. Ugh...I could go on and on about Marvel. Remember Marvel Mangaverse, guys? I feel the Wolverine anime will basically be that disaster, mark two. |

IronMan looks spot on and awesome, but wolverine really looks like they are taking some liberties with the character

Wolverine one looks gay, Iron Man one looks pretty good. If it wasn't Wolverine and he had a sword or something, it might be a good original anime, not Marvel. We need a Deadpool anime

Some new information from here: http://www.aintitcool.com/node/41841
Warren Ellis: "WOLVERINE and IRON MAN are 13 episodes each. I'm not actually scripting, but providing detailed storylines for each episode, which will then be handed to a Japanese scripter at Madhouse. IRON MAN leads into WOLVERINE." |

Iron Man looks good. But what the hell is with Wolverine? I really liked when he was in Japan in the comics, but this looks like a modernized hybrid of Ninja Scroll meets Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. The bishy Logan will take some getting used to...
Oh well, at least it's Mad House and not Bee Train or Kyoto Animation. Then, they'd either be bloodless and choppy or moe. |

I can't figure out the reasons behind the Madhouse animated Wolverine's look from a creative point-of-view. I mean since when did Japanese animation creative styles and freedom means "fair skins, lushful hair, manicured fingers, pretty faces for all and all"? Don't get me wrong, I can understand how they can be appealing with their own merits, but how does any of that speaks "I'm the best there is at what I do, and what I do isn't very nice"? Was there something amiss, or is it a fact that the Japanese anime audiences think pretty things are dangerous?
![]() It is with that same inquisitorial mindset that made me question about the work-in-progress Japanese animation of Planet Hulk from Madhouse. Cause you and I both know that the Hulk isn't nice looking at all, let along him winning a beauty contest based on looks. So just what will the Japanese anime audiences from a collective culture would like their Hulk to look like is therefore questionable to say the least. Especially when I think that Hulk is a character that represents the raging fury of a strong individual, who's angry at the stupidity and ignorance that's been allowed to become the society's norms due to our collective weaknesses. I mean how else would you criticize these famous quote from the Hulk: "Stupid puny humans, Hulk is strongest one there is! Leave Hulk alone!" As I'm holding onto my copy of the Planet Hulk graphic novel, I can't help but to wonder "just who do those Japanese anime audiences think we are?" ![]() |

I really liked the look of the Iron Man one, it was like a comic book come to life through animation. And I'm glad it's all MadHouse, so the quality will be assured unlike the Batman Gothic Knight one where each segment was completely different.
