Shattered Angels not only sounds over dramatic, depressing show, but the cast sounds like they can barely tie their shoes.
But Law of Ueki is a pretty interesting series. No fanservice at all and no stupid romantic triangles. I'll admit that the manga sequel is slightly better, but the first series is pretty cool. But why Funimation licensed garbage such as Shattered Angels is beyond me. But what baffles me more is that garbage such as this was actually licensed in the first place. |

Most likely a package deal. FUNi would get access to good series A only if they bought the rights to fair-to-middling-or-worse series B, C, and/or D |

Up until the scene most fans were waiting anxiously for, ironically. Stopped just short, but then again it would be a horrible butchered rush job if they attempted to keep that scene in, around in the 50's of the chapters I believe, but that's a rough guess. They did make it far though, I'm pretty sure 50~60's.
Despite the fact that [/spoiler] Ren didn't seem to mind the 20 year age difference couple the best on TV; he still whole heartedly spurns his budding love despite the only 4 year difference. spoiler[ But like Bamboo mentioned, that also goes with the "lets stalk the manager to get the job", sure in RL it would be creepy as hell, but let's forget that small detail

You know, I think it'd be hard for a series to not be stream worthy, considering that it's free.

Somethings are a waste of bandwidth. Dragonaut from example. (who's going to be lucky enough to get that review?) I did mean to watch Skip Beat! though. Or at least check out the manga. |

Wow, how did I know where Shattered Angels would end up after seeing it in the list on the front page?
I thought Utawarerumono / Shadow Warrior Chronicles / Foxgirls Gone Wild / The One They Sing Of / Utawhatevermono was interesting enough for most of its run. True, many of the characters were one-noters, but I liked the hook of the "I have no idea who I am, but there's things to do and I'm going to get them done" main character. Comedic moments with the animal girls didn't hurt, and cool side characters like the calm, collected, yet ultimately badass Benawi kept getting added. Heck, Karula is basically a female version of Guts from Berserk -- how much cooler can you get? Storywise, I liked the emphasis on strategical planning and tactical execution, instead of relying solely on heroism/fighting spirit/Spiral Energy. It was all well and good until episode 21 or so, when things just went off the deep end. For those buying Utawarerumono, I'd recommend getting the ADV singles release if possible -- none of the interesting extras made it to the Funimation collection reviewed in this column. |

Meh... Guess I won't get it at Otakon. Kinda was hoping it wasn't that bad. Kuu sounds like she encompasses all of the bad characteristics of Moe/Key/harem girls together into one big ball of blandness. ...Too bad that Kannazuki got tied up into the debacle, eh? |

I certainly found Utawarerumono a lot harder than Tears to Tiara; maybe I just leveled up too much in Tears. Even attempting Utawhatever on the hardest setting seems impossible, but the end boss of Tears was a pushover even with weapons and armour about three stages below the best.

I liked Law of Ueki. It was fun and quirky, although it was basically a bunch of tournament battles (nothing wrong with that if you like that kind of thing). It was pretty easy to tell characters apart too.
I'm planning on watching Utawarerumono soon, so I'm glad it got a decent review. |
