Miyazakis films, including Ponyo, to be shown at UC Berkeley

We showcase the stunning artistry, soaring imagination, and social conscience of internationally acclaimed director Hayao Miyazaki in four special screenings, presented in collaboration with the Center for Japanese Studies at UC Berkeley. Cofounder of the renowned Studio Ghibli, Miyazaki is admired for his hand-drawn animation and masterful storytelling. Even if you already treasure Miyazaki’s films on DVD, you won’t want to miss this chance to appreciate their beauty as it was meant to be seen: on the big screen.

Hayao Miyazaki is the recipient of the 2009 Berkeley Japan Prize. On July 24, the Center for Japanese Studies and PFA will present the Bay Area premiere of Miyazaki’s new film, Ponyo, at Wheeler Auditorium on the UC Berkeley campus.
