I did a search to see if there was already a thread on this topic and couldn't find one. It seems like such an obvious topic, however, that I have trouble believing one doesn't already exist. If I'm right, I'm sure some helpful mod will zap this. But just in case there isn't...

...I have two fav catchphrases right now.

1. Hell Girl: I can't help get a little schwingle when Hell Girl says in that calm voice of hersspoiler[, "Perhaps it is time to die."]

2. Rosario + Vampire: I love it when Moka has her vampire-binding rosario removed and her (literally) kickass alter ego comes out to play. At the end of whichever fight is going on, Moka will say:

spoiler["Learn...

your...

*high kick that sends opponent half mile in the air*

PLACE!!!]

Ha ha, awesome!

Hey, I like this idea for a thread, high-five! Cool

Yeah, I'll agree with that Hell Girl line. Too bad that show was way too repetitive for me. Crying or Very sad

The current one I can't get out of my head is from Girls Bravo, good ol' Kirie: "...IN HEEELLLLLL!!" And what makes it so great is that she tacks it on to the last thing people say before she pummels them. "Look up skirts.../Get yer groove on.../Fulfill your fantasies.../etc... IN HEEEELLLL!" Awww, such a lovely little touch it adds to her character...

And I'll also have to add the opening line to every single episode of Noir:
"It is the name of an ancient fate
Two maidens who govern death
To the depths of hells fire
Their black hands lead the lost children"
Oooo, eerie! It fills me with gleeful goosebumps each time...

And just for kicks, I'll throw in my most hated catch-phrase, from Ikki Tousen: "The one who said stupid first is stupid!" Mad
Try as I might, I can not find a more stupid catch-phrase than that one. It is the epitome of stupid, and is thus a great indicater of the rest of the show... bleh!

Catchphrase?

...the three I use most are "I'll take a potato chip...and EAT IT!" Laughing But in different variations depending on the situation.

I also have a tendency to say "Whatever happens, happens" a lot. (Spike-ism)

And just for fun, with the hand motion and crazed inflection: "LOVE AND PEACE!" Cool

When I saw that you posted here, I totally expected that Laughing

Well when I think of catchphrase, part of what I think is when I'm talking with friends, what do we randomly say anime wise all of a sudden? The catchphrases.

So, let me just start with Gurren Lagann, which we quote a lot, partly because the one guy doesn't like it and hasn't even finished it cus he's being a jerk and partly because it's awesome and we should be quoting it:
spoiler[Kamina lives], although it's more from the internet to be fair
"Don't believe in you, believe in me who believes in you!"
"Your drill is the one that will pierce the heavens!"
"FIGHT DA POWAH!"
"Who the hell do you think we are!"

Then the next set of catchphrases we're all familiar with could only belong to Yugioh: The Abridged Series:
"Screw the rules, I have money!"-although we usually mod this one to the situation
"Brooklyn rage, BROOKLYN RAGE!"
"That's super special awesome"
".....in America"

So these are the ones I certainly quote the most, but as for my favorites:
Well, the entire TTGL set
Princess Tutu: "May those who accept their fate be granted happiness, to those who defy it, glory"
A lot of the ones from Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, namely
"I'm in despair!" + "The internet has left me in despair!"
From watching Speed Grapher the other day, the lady who always claims "self defense"
and the ever classic and simple "Objection!" from Phoenix Wright, which must be done with the pose to count.

And then I have tendencies to quote Monkey Island and other random games a lot too honestly, and lots of South Park, particularly ginger jokes as of late in the name of irony.

Under my avatar is my favorite thus far, from Pani Poni Dash said by Rebecca to "Cowlick".

Chidori's "What the hell's the matter with you?" with fan smacking Souseke is classic.

Not much else is memorable to me. Go figure. Too busy looking at the pretty pictures, I guess.

We've had threads like this before. I believe back then, the big one was called "Favorite Anime Quote" or something along those lines.

Go ahead and have your fun.

You have my blessing.

I'm quite fond of:
"It's not a problem", in the style of Chris Patton as Sousuke Sagara.

This one's pretty easy to slip into every day life. Very Happy

The only one that comes to mind is a line I stole from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya: "Her queerness takes a path unlike anything you've seen." Hard to work it into everyday conversation though...

The only other one my anime-watching friends and I quote consistently is from Black Lagoon. There's a scene where spoiler[a bad guy fires an RPG into the protagonist's apartment,] and Revy, upon seeing this, dives away from the window in slow-motion yelling "ARRRRR PEEEEEE GEEEEEEEE." Again, hard to bring this one up naturally, but we all have a good laugh one someone does. Cool

I'm totally with those. And every time they mention "children's card game."

I personally like November 11's "Just kidding" from Darker than BLACK. And Ichigo's "Getsuga Tenshou" is a guilty pleasure, I must say =P

Yare yare daze.

spoiler[Jotaro Kujo, JJBA]

Istavan from Guin Saga also uses it (and perhaps other characters I can't recall right now. Seems like it is frequently used in anime, but the archetype user of "Yare, yare" for me remains Akabane (Getbackers).

The ones I use often are:

"Taste doesn't matter." - it's the title of Kemonozume's last episode. Most of the time I amuse myself with the people not knowing what the source means for real, but it is applicable in rewarding caring people for their horrible cooking (ex-boyfriends included, Very Happy).

"It hurts to look so good!" - Odagiri-sensei (High School Girls). Subverts narcisstic trends and provides a decent explanation for my frail health.

"Here comes the King of Discrimination!" - NieA (NieaA_7), slightly paraphrased, addressing one of my bosses.

My favourite quotes though are from Planetes. It turns out Hachi is my guiding light in life:

" In every way, shape, and form what I did was wrong!"

" When you are in love, stuff like kids and husbands are the last thing on your mind, right?"

" Sorry about nearly screwing up your flight... But we might end up doing it again, so bear with us, okay?"
^ This is a blueprint of an apology letter. It meets successfully many of my clients' worries. Very Happy

I love when Japanese-voiced characters have an English catchphrase:
"Sunk yor!" = thank you. You hear this one a lot.
"Zutsu rite!" = that's right (the highlight of Dai Guard for me).
"Wut?!" = what? (The highlight of Speed Grapher.)

And it doesn't count as a catchphrase, since she only said it once, but I love the seiyo's delivery:
"USO!!!" = no way! (literally "lie") from Genshiken.
