I always wonder why there is not that much anime that has chracters that are homosexual. Why?I'm not trying to be funny
but if there hentai anime why could there be some anime that
one of the chracters is not understanding there sexual orientions ( I think is described like that.) Do ya think there should be anime liked that? Why or why not?

There actually are a lot of anime and manga that involve homosexual relationships. There were tons of "hints" in Card Captor Sakura and that was a little kids show. Haruka & Michiru of Sailor Moon are lesbians. I've never seen it, but aren't the main characters in Utena lebians, too? There are tons of manga with implications, such as Eerie Queerie and Hana Kimi (although the characters aren't actually gay, they think they are.). This topic crops up a lot in anime and manga. I'm sure I've left a lot of examples out in my listing, but I'm not an expert on these kinds of stories. I'll leave it up to someone much wiser than myself.

In Onegai Twins they had that gay dude and in Green Green the baka-trio making out was pretty sick. Also there is gay hentai out there but too sick for my taste....

Omg... this is so strange, i was just having a sailor moon conversation with a friend just then (don't ask, he started it), and we were talking about the whole 'cousin' thing as well and then that led to Sailor Stars (which got even stranger). But anyways... the point is, there actually are a good amount of anime/manga dealing with homosexuality, subtley or not. Like monkeyDluffy4 pointed out, CCS (almost anything CLAMP basically ), Sailor Moon, and Utena are one of the few that has it. There are many others, and to name a few, there is Ai no Kusabi, Fish in the Trap, Gravitation, FAKE, etc. If you do some research, you'll be shocked to find a pretty long list

Gravitation is a well-known shounen-ai (male-male relationship) series, and Yami to Boushi to Hon to Tabibito & Maria-sama ga Miteru both have strong shoujo-ai (female-female relationship) overtones...though with MariMite, most of the relationships are more sisterly than romantic.

Well, I think we're kinda missing GoldHawk's "highly stimulating" question of "Should anime have homosexual characters?"
My answer to that question is, "The sexual orientation of a character in relation to the plot of the show has no bearing on whether or not I watch it. So, yeah, it doesn't matter." It's like asking if movies or shows in general should have homosexual characters.

Oopsies~! But I agree. Sexual orientation doesn't really matter, unless if the plot is about a homosexual couple, then you kinda have no choice

I don't mean to undermine homosexuals but in most popular anime, what point would homosexuals add to the show?

Check out F.COMPO (not in ANN database yet) by Tsukasa Hojo (Cat's Eye, City Hunter). The lead's aunt is actually his uncle while his uncle is actually his aunt, and he can never be sure whether his cousin, a bishoujo in women's clothing but a bishounen in men's clothing, is a boy or a girl.
And then he begins to wear women's clothing.

What point do heterosexuals add to the show?

There are acctually... quite a few. But off the top of my head, Gravitation is probably the best know one that's pretty open about it.
Don't get me started with the hentai =P.
Basicly, anime is much more open with this kind of stuff than most other forms of entertainment are. It's not really something I agree on, but it's out there.

Fake has two homosexual characters, haven't read it though. Also I believe there was one character in Battle Royale (the manga) who was as well

I think they're asking what would be gained by adding homosexual characters to a popular anime...which doesn't make much sense to me, the question, that is.
