Although it is immensely popular in North America, but its status in the history of shojo manga development is far behind Sailor Moon, CCS, or Nana. It is the #1 viewed shojo manga at ANN, though. |

In the kids department...I wonder what Macy's will think when older people show up. I go to Macy's all the time...its not a place I see anime fans.

I gotta agree with the above about not seeing too many anime fans there. (in truth I don't think i've ever even seen one.) But i'm kinda surprised that it's at a Macy's of all places
 . Ah well, wish I could go, sounds really neat.

I love the gift though - buy $75 worth of stuff and get everything for Fruits Basket as once - awesome deal. Maybe I can get one of my friends still in NY to go there for me... well, maybe they would keep it... |

But you can't really tell if you're seeing anime fans places. Just because they're not wearing anime t-shirts or something doesn't mean they're not anime fans... I go to Macy's. |

As someone pointed out, this is made of fail. Clearly not considering it went off the deep end a little bit.....and Japan has put this manga to rest for a long while now. |

Seriously though, I'd put money on them not wanting older people at the event because of misplaced fears that they'd be a danger to the children. Plus with the whole "meet the characters" thing, the event itself sounds like it's geared toward kids. Probably not the best idea in the world to disregard a large portion of the fanbase regardless but Tokyopop isn't exactly run by geniuses. It actually sounds like a fun event though. Wish I lived in NY to go check it out. (I may be 26 but danged if I'd let their petty age-restrictions keep me away from my fun!) |

This is really bizarre to me, especially the 15-and-under bit. I'm sure there is a sizable young audience for FB, but the way they are presenting it sounds more like something for much younger kids. Maybe I'm just out of touch with young kids these days, but wouldn't the main FB audience at LEAST be 12?Or a mature 11 at best? A 15 year age limit and a "meet the characters" thing sounds like something for a 5-10 year old Disney fan type crowd, and in my mind FB is doesn't strike me as entirely appropriate for that age set. Very weird.

I first saw Fruits Basket when I was around 14-15. o_O I'm not particularly fond of the series, but the fact that Macy's - of all places is having this event, I might check it out. I don't fall under the 15 and under category, but my sister does. I'll just tag along as her guardian.
...Nevermind the fact that she looks about the same age as me and she's taller. :D But she has ID to prove her age and I don't. |
