Well, it's only about two months' worth of salary...assuming I walk to work every day, and don't spend money on food, rent, bills, or...anything else ^^ Tempting...
(note to self: self, you need a better job...)

I only buy it if it's an evil Hikari doll or an Akari doll.

what the hell?!?! thats to weird. GAINAX is way full of themselves. they have no originallity anymore. Kono Miniku mo Utsukushii is basically a bunch of other animes thrown together with ridiculous amounts of child porn.

You can change the clothes, yes. They are not like "real dolls", though, and can break very easily. These things really are intended as collectors pieces.

Well, I am disappointed... when I did the preview, I really was hoping it would keep a balance of the fanservice with the story. But it's taken so long to get to a semblance of a story that it's almost not worth it. While it does maintain some sene of originality, it's buried too deeply for it to really make it what I call "priority watching."
Gainax just needs to come out with something non-fanservicy with a strong plotline at this point.
As far as the doll goes? I can think of a lot more things I could do with 4 grand... like pay off a good chunk of my car, or credit card debts... now if the stock in the company I work for could just go back up a decent amount again, maybe I could afford to buy things like this, but it's pretty unlikely I'll ever be able to afford one.

Hehe, $3990 for a life size doll. I'd buy it if I was rich and I'd also buy that life size Master Chief Halo armor ($3500)

Let's see 4 grand to buy a life-size doll that would freak everyone out who saw it, or a plasma TV with soround sound, or a new motorcycle, or two weeks in Europe, or the ULTIMATE DVD COLLECTION. If I was going to waste my money, I could think of so many better ways to do it than this.
