In before the posts that say "Yes 4Kids is one step closer to death! Anime fans everywhere rejoice!" Rolling Eyes .

Viz is more of a threat then 4Kids.

And in the end, it was not the outrage of internet forums that killed 4kids, but a global economic meltdown!

Who'd a thunk it?

Well, the dude did say that anime was dead a couple of months back. He will probably be saying the same thing about his company sometime in the future.

Eh...this sucks. Just when 4Kids starts to improve, they fall hardest. Their CW4Kids block is very enjoyable, as far as kids blocks go. I enjoy watching shows like Huntik and Kamen Rider. Plus 4Kids is becoming more interactive with older fans, by answering questions and listening to constructive criticism on their YouTube page.

Honestly, I hope 4Kids can ride out the economic storm, but it's going to be difficult since the company heavily relies on consumer spending.

Earlier in the year, they stood as high as US$25.30.

This definitely isn't accurate. According to Google Finance, 4Kids' 52-week high was 12.17. They haven't had a stock price that high in several years.

Would love to say "that's so sad," but I'd be lying.

Yeah, that is something I think everyone can agree with. 4Kids is the last company trying to keep Saturday morning Network children's blocks alive. Everyone else is either repeating their spinoff channels junk. Or is aimed solely at the preschool, or younger children audience.

I think though that I prefer their morning block over what ABC has on Saturday mornings. At least there's some cartoons to them. I'm really not in the mood to watch That's So Raven, Suite Life of Cody and Zack, or Hannah Montana for my mornings.

Man, every time some mentions a Disney reference I get a little sad. As Power Rangers has recently been cancelled after 17 seasons. Crying or Very sad This season, RPM, seemed to actually be sort of swell.

Power Rangers, those were the days. Unfortunately I only got to be stuck to the first generation, after which I ended up going to Japan. Therefore I got a firsthand look at the real power rangers in Japan.

On the otherhand, they still won't release everything uncut.

Threat? To what? Seriously, to what? The JP industry is a way bigger threat to good anime- producers are more interested in selling salacious figurines and merchandise, and directors don't know quality from a hole in the ground. The fanboys are a threat- they consistently make the same substandard, cliche garbage the biggest things EVAR, they turn everything that crosses their line-of-sight into porn, and they spread so much hate around the series that they claim to like that noone wants to be associated with them. Let's not even get into the thrice-damned lolicons that successfully make everyone look bad.

Ah, but we're making a big deal of this. The fact is, nothing can be a "threat" to anime. To be a threat, you have to be able to destroy or at least hurt something. But anime is an art form, a form of storytelling. It's impossible to destroy it because- well, human beings have always made art and told stories. It's an impulse that is ingrained in our very nature, and as long as we exist we will be telling stories. Don't worry about anything being a "threat" to anime. the only thing that will stop what is truly good about anime is the extinction of humanity- and if it reaches that point, we've got bigger problems anyway...

I disagree. They're harming anime by taking the original art and twisting it for their own profits. The worst part about it is that we can't legally do anything about it, other than not buy their stuff. People can't see the uncensored, un-americanized version of anime as long as they own the sole rights to it.
