Which, if Afro Samurai, Highlander, etc. is to go by, means more sex and violence. Woo-hoo. |

maybe so.. but I think of this kind of anime as one where they use the look, keep the violence but: - get rid of any sign or reference to sexuality whatsoever, including humor - get rid of any display of modesty or apologetic behavior - get rid of any indecision or moral wavering in order to appeal more to "western" sensibilities
lol, so true |

enurtsol: If Stallone can still do Rambo, Mel can still do Mad Max.
mufurc: I think sex and violence is Kawajiri's trademark without Western influence. |

If Akira Kurosawa can do it, anybody can. |

It's called more Mad Max, that's what it's called I could look forward to more Mad Max. It wouldn't suprise me at all considering they are making so many sequels or revivals nowadays. |

One, Avatar is a Nickelodeon show. Two, it's actually a pretty decent show. |

Avatar is easily the best of any of those examples. Samurai Jack was good too because Genndy took a lot from Kurosawa and other samurai films, but it did become monotonous. America can make great animated works if they want, they just don't gravitate towards it. I wish they would. |

Or at least the kids shows seem to be that way if Cartoon Network's any example. Maybe I've just missed the good stuff though. |

That wasn't Rambo! Freaking Burmese 3rd world military, that's what it comes down to now?! The ending was total Bruce Banner though. |

enurtsol: It was closer to Rambo than the last fourquel before it was to Die Hard.

I think this may be an interesting idea if done correctly. I was never a fan of the first Mad Max film but, the other two are great! As for American cartoons not being any good as of late...I'd actually disagree with that. The Marvel and DC animated films have been really good, especially lately with "Hulk Vs." and the new "Wonder Woman".

Unlike Mel and Harrison thought Sly has stayed in shape all through the years. So going back into the role did not involve a lot of "getting back into shape" for the role. Plus it's not exactly like Rambo is Mr Monologue either. As for te idea of making the 4th movie, if it ever comes to be, into an anime (or other form of animation) I think it could be good. If it's done right. If they go the route of Highlander it will be god awful. If they tried to emulate Afro Samurai it might not suck that badly. My question is though after all these years...does anyone really want another Mad Max in any form anyways? Dammit if we're gonna do a post apocalyptic setting just give us Battle Angel Alita for God's sake. Let old dogs lay. |
