....Well, not a title a was expecting to see.
I think it's a good gesture that they're airing at the Canadian Embassy. |

Wonder if they'll do an English dub in Canada. JET TV aired an English dub of the 1979 series, back in 1998, that sounded like it used Canadian voice actors.

While I absolutely love the story of Anne, I'm slightly wary. Last year there was an Anne special that ran on CTV where they changed her back story - Anne had lied about her father dying, he had just simply abandoned her - which I didn't like, so I'm hoping this isn't going to be the same story as that one.
Little Anne is so cute though. |

This is based on Budge Wilson's Before Green Gables, which is loyal to the continuity of the Anne Shirley universe. So there's no reason to be wary. The Isao Takahata-directed 1979 Anne of Green Gables is one of my favorite anime series of all time, so I'm quite looking forward to this. |

I am very surprised that, with the huge popularity of the books, the original "Anne of the Green Gables" anime is unavailable on DVD in any English-speaking country. Seeing a DVD of "Heidi" could also be nice. It's not exactly the kind of this anime fans would rush to the stores for, but if marketed as "Family Entertainment" (which both shows are - and of the excellent kind), I believe they can make good money. |
