I hope this comic is published with the consent of TezukaPro this time... Now that I think about it, I'm wondering if the Japanese ever got to see the Akira professional "fan art" at the end of the Marvel edition of the manga.

Does anyone know if they're basing the Astro Boy movie off of a specific story arc in the manga? Or is it completely new?
And GATSU, I'm pretty sure they are doing this with permission. How the hell could they get away with it otherwise? TezukaPro probably sees this as advertising for their own stuff: get a whole generation of little kids hooked on Astro Boy with this movie, and then they'll buy Tezuka stuff when they're older. That's if the movie's any good, of course...

I don't understand the need to remake this, but I pray it turns out better than IDW's attempt at Doctor Who comics.

There was a comic cash-in from the 60s show which was totally illegal.

vash: Actually, there were some unauthorized comic adaptations of the series back in the 60s.
