I'd hazard a guess but I'd say Adult Swim dropped it because it wasn't garnering enough ratings?

Why start a thread on this now? It has already been dropped for a month, so it is not as though this is a sudden thing.

Please read this article and the accompanying thread for your answers. Though to be honest they don't know why it was dropped either.

I don't come here often so I thought I'd bother to ask.

Media Blasters is still releasing the DVD's, the next being in march.

I remember seeing something about AS and Prod. I.G. having a dispute about it. Honestly, I don't think there has been anything publicly stated about why this has happened. A lot of speculation though. I read people saying that its bad ratings, but who knows.

It's probably that MB doesn't have enough dub completed, but as for ratings...yeah, well, it's kind of hard to not have bad ratings when you plan an anime at 1:30 on a Saturday night. That has to be the worst timeslot for the entire week.

I think the dub is already completed. Geneon got it done before they lost it, and Media Blasters is just distributing it. I ether heard that from an official statement or an comment on news.

Also what makes me believe that is because whenever an episode came on adultswim it showed Geneon logo before. They might have shown Media Blasters intro if they did the dubbed or had more influence. But hey, I'm just guessing.

At another forum, a Media Blasters representative said that MB does not have anything to do with Moribito's Adult Swim broadcast. MB only has the DVD distribution rights. Apparently, the AS broadcast is an arrangement between Cartoon Network and Moribito's producers, if I remember correctly.

Given that they showed 10 episodes, then repeated those same 10 episodes, then suddenly dropped it, I and many others have speculated that it was some licensing issue or something. But as others have already said in this thread, nothing is confirmed.

Guess we'll have to wait for the DVDs to come out.

Maybe it might be better to wait for the DVDs after all

That's what the previously mentioned ANN story mentions. It's really a pity, since Moribito is a good show and hopefully its recent TV exposure motivates enough people to get the DVDs to see how it ends.

Hey when making shows like "Tom Goes To The Mayor" and "Assey McGee" that are FAR cheaper to produce. It's not that hard to see why. We are living in a tightwad era right now, where every single penny is being watched.

Literally look at how many crappy comedy shows AS has, compared to what they bring in to cover for Action. According to AS all 12 of their "Action" shows are english versions of Anime (11 if you do not include Moribito). While they have 33 comedy shows, 95% of which are the crap half-assed shows they are now known for.

One thing to still ponder while there has not been a new Moribito shown in english since November 1, 2008. AS still lists Moribito in their "Action" line-up...though they continue to state it is not airing this week.

I personally hope they get to air the remaining shows. Regardless of what the ratings were, the story starts to pick up around episode 14.

^ I actually like most of AS's comedies, I think it's funny anyways.

I think it's a shame that Moibito isn't being aired any more. I was enjoying it and then suddenly they just have it drop off the map. It's quite upsetting.
