Yeah, most westerners didn't even give this show a chance, and it's actually very good. Humorous, poignant, very touching once the real story surfaces. One of those I want to watch again now that I have DVD copies, but I hesitate because of the emotional effect past the pure comedy episodes. Nothing pedo about it--the opposite in fact--but very few outside Japan will ever find that out.

Of all the anime genres (or fetishes should I say) I hate loli the most...
This thing should be forgotten.

This isn't bad like you think. The only reason it gets a ba rep is because people like you automatically assume its a porno or something.

I actually watched the first season of this and I have to LOL at this. It's pretty clear who this anime/manga is targeted toward, and it ain't people who want a touching story.

OK, lets make this clear. There is one sex scene in Kodomo no Jikan. That sex scene is with 2 ADULTS. So there is no pedo content. Yes, the girl is a perverted one. But, Aoki refuses to do anything with her.
Pedophilia means, adults are attracted to pre-pubescent humans. Now, based on that, Kodomo no Jikan is not in any way pedophilia.
If a younger person is sexually attracted to an adult, but that adult isn't the same with the child, explain how it is pedophillia please. I just can't figure this out.

that may be the plot premises, but who do you think they're targeting?

Some of us do like it for the touching story, you know. Or rather, the likeable characters (the overall "plot" usually takes a back seat to the characters endearing quirks).

How can you accept that that is the premise and at the same time pretend it targets pedophiles?

Target and actual content are different, that's the problem. If the target is loli fans, so be it. But don't judge something based on the target buyer is. What if nickolodeon's target audience was rapist and murderers, but all that was there was spongebob squarepants. Would you refuse to watch it because a murderer watches it? If that is your reason not too, then you need to just not watch tv at all. My reason would be that SPongebob is stupid and annoying.

I'm so sure I never should have said anything, I'm really not going to argue this--truly this is all I will say--because there is no win to it either way. Every one has their differing perceptions and viewpoints, and the manga of this has already been stifled in the U.S. I fully understand why that happened. But what the show turns out to be may have little relation to who it may have been originally targeted toward or the initial perceptions.
To me, Strike Witches is so much worse than KnJ, I just couldn't believe I was actually seeing it. Full-on, 12 year old panty crotch shots flying into your face closer than Ikkitousen, and almost as often. Yeah obviously the otaku made it a huge hit and may have saved Gonzo's business last year in Japan, but more importantly I hear very few people slamming it in the West. Supposedly it had a good story. I may find out some day, but I was pretty uncomfortable with it whereas I never had that feeling with KnJ.
It's just a cultural difference, period. Western morality and indoctrination. And while yes, most of that sort of thing is purely for prurient interests, it is possible to also have a decent or better story completely aside from the ecchi.

There is no rape nor is there murder in Spongebob Squarepants.
Kodomo no Jikan is swimming in fanservice featuring characters in elementary school. There is plenty of nudity and suggestive poses and situations. Those elements are there to attract otaku who identify as being part of lolicon fandom. Arguing otherwise is specious.

So the "just barely not a nipple shot" promo image is a fluke?

Yeah, well, I tried to discuss it in a reasonable fashion, having actually watched the show. As I already said, my bad for saying anything at all.
