This thread is inspired by the old Hey, Answerfans! question, which I stumbled across while reading old columns. So, say what series you have watched the entirety, and tell why. Of course, it's meant to be a little broader. If you don't like to go through series again for whatever reason, or will only watch certain things more than once, explain your views as well.
There are two series I have gone through multiple times: Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei and Slayers. While I watched all of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei (and Zoku SZS) again, I didn't watch it in order. The twisted nature of the show made it good for another watch, because I picked up on some details that had slipped past before. The chalkboard messages are the best example of this. It hadn't been possible to both read those and follow the conversation at the same time, so the chalkboard was neglected at first. Watching it again served to reinforce the jokes, which had been enjoyable before, with whatever tidbits on the board either contributing to the situation or the series's insane atmosphere. Another reason was that, as a detail person, I wanted to review some things I had forgotten. spoiler[For example, when Zetsubou-sensei and Kitsu were arguing over hibernation, I couldn't remember what they used to try to fall asleep or stay awake. ] It may not have been significant, but it reminded me why it was funny and fulfilled my desire to know everything about any situation in whatever I watch. (Something that's only partially an exaggeration. ![]() For Slayers (just the first series, but that's going to change soon), I didn't do because I thought I had missed something. I did it because the show was 100% pure fun. It was a little slow to get into the first time around, but the first few episodes are actually more enjoyable when you know a little bit about the characters, and how their relationships will advance. Beyond that, it's simple. Great characters, an interesting, if somewhat cliche, story , and a humorous atmosphere that make it just as entertaining as it was to watch the first time. * Fullmetal Alchemist
Because I wanted to see if the ending was really as screwed up as my friends said. I always saw FMA as a masterpiece but after watching it the second time I only enjoyed the first 30/40 episodes so a second watch really changed my opinion. * Cowboy Bebop To see if my favourite show really is my favourite show and it still is my favourite show, lol. But I definitely want to rewatch Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Neon Genesis Evangelion because of the thought provoking and complex storylines. |

Watched twice? Twelve Kingdoms (in whole, the 45 eps), which I think is my favorite series; and also Elfen Lied, which I watched a second time because I didn't have anything new. Being relatively short, it was a perfect choice between series (it's also very good).
You could count also Ghost in the Shell SAC, since I watched the series and the movie of the main story after that (the Laughing Man, which reprises only the episodes concerning, well, the Laughing Man). Shows I'm going to watch at least twice: Shakugan no Shana (every day, I wish that the second season be licensed) My-Hime And I'll surely watch 12 Kingdoms a third time soon... ![]() |

With few exceptions I've watched almost all of the anime I own on VHS and DVD more than once. The exceptions being the original Appleseed OAV and Eiken, mainly because I found both to be truly awful in some way. Other than those the only other anime I own that I haven't watched more than once oddly enough is Castle In The Sky. I didn't think it was bad in the least little bit, I just haven't had a desire to watch it again since I first got it way back in 2003.

There are quite a number of Anime I've rewatched through my years of being an Anime fan. Most of the time, I re watch older Anime that I saw during my childhood as a means of feeling some nostalgia. Examples would be: Vision Of Escaflowne and Flame Of Recca. However if an Anime struck me as something close to a Master Piece I'll also choose to re watch them simply because the Anime was that amazing to me (Examples: Baccano, Princess Mononoke, Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War In The Pocket). Lastly the only other time I'll re watch an Anime is mostly for specific episodes which became favourites from that series. Other than that once I've watched something I'll quickly move on.

I've been into anime for about two years, so I haven't had much time to rewatch stuff as I'm trying to catch up
![]() However I have watched Evangelion about two and a half times. Yeah 2 and a half. It's my favourite series. I'd seen half of it, watched it all at university, and then rewatched it as I had brought the complete series and thought I should make the most of my spent money. I've also seen End of Evangelion about six times. I actually watched it before I watch all of the series, but it was what pulled me into the series. The action, the weirdness, Asuka's battle. I like that film. I've also rewatched a few of the Ghibli films, as I watched them on TV, then brought the DVDs and watched them. |

There have been quite a few that I've watched over and over again: Sailor Moon, Fushigi Yugi, Angelic Layer, DNAngel and X TV are are just a few.
The way I see it, I'm spending a lot of money to get these various series and by God, I'm going to watch them over and over again. That being said, I haven't been able to rewatch some of my old favorites for some time because I've been buying so many new titles and I'm behind. ![]() |

I'm in a similar pickle. I have to choose between rewatching a favourite series, or being able to broaden the number of titles about which I'm able to discuss with others. My collection won't become particularly sizable otherwise. |

Um fellas, isn't this like listing and stuff... i'm going to post here, but... okay whatever.
Lets see, i've watched a many series more than once, and and i've watched most those series more than 2 times. I've watched Spiral about 13 times just because back when i first started, i was looking for an anime a lot like this, and then i just stumbled upon it. I was reallly glad, and then i really liked the story a lot mroe than it hought i did the second time around, so about every month or so , i'd watch this series. I've stopped watching it, and it's moved down on my top 10 list. Great Teacher Onizuka about 4 times just becuase it's so funny, and it's a good get-away anime for me. If i've been watching a lot of serious anime or something, and i want something funny, and i want it now, then i mean, GTO is always there. Tokko about 3 times because it's interesting, and it was one of the ealier ones. I tend to go back on all my anime to watch it because i'm not always watching subs and i can't always get new anime... so yeah, and tokko is pretty good. Noein 2 times because it's a great show. I'm suprized it's only been 2 times, i'll probably watch this again after i finish all the anime i've gotten in the past month. It's really great, and it doenst' get old for me. Moon Phase 2 times because it's funny, and i just actually watched it for my second time. It's also a good story, a little... well i mean, it definitlky didn't stay as godo as it was the first time... hte first time around, the show was a spectacle, but this time it was like eh... but hey, that first time never leaves. Saiyuki about 5 times because i really love the show. It's so entertaining to watch. It's easy to watch and i love to watch it. Yeah it's a bit long, and i'm only talking about the first franchise or whatever it's called, episoodes 1-50. It's great, it's easy, and it's fun... those are bascailly the criteria to watch anime again, and this one pasts. Noir about 4 times because this was my first gun show, and at the time, i thought that it was like the only gun show... so yeah i watched that a lot right when i got it. Then i watched it once recently, and it's kept up to speed. Gad Guard about 4 times because i reallly like it's style, it's something that i grow to miss as time goes on without watching it, so every now and then i'll slip back into the mood and will watch the series... it's good the story's good, it's fun, and i really like the characters and the inner city part of it, thats the part i grow to miss over time. The Melody of Oblivion 2 times because it's a big adventure with soem fantasy elements, and i rarely watch anime like that... so after large large gaps of time, i'll go back to watch this just to get that feel... but i'm probably not goign to again, i'm going to search for new fantasy animes, or ... i think that's what they're called, like magic and like really off beat ideas that still work.. those types. Fruits Basket about (please no comments on this) 22-25 times, i've lost count. It's my favorit series by far, although latley i havn't watched it. But okay, that many times, wow he's weird, what a weirdo, he needs to move on. Yeah i know, but still it's soo great, i can't help but watch all the antics that take place in the show, with all the ... well i won't get into it. I must say though, i mainly re-watch it for it's comedy aspect, it's my favoirte comedy in all anime... espeically the comedy with the grownups in the show. Fantastic Children about 2 times. It's an intricate story, it's good to watch every now and then. Otherwise, there is no reason for me to watch it, other that the story being very ... unique, that's why i like the series so much. E's Otherwise about 7 times, i think, i kinda forgot, a lot though because i like the characters alot, and i like the animation and i also enjoy the story line, although Auska or whatever her face is, i really don't like her (that's probably why i don't remember her name, the moe one). But yeah, i watch it for the characters and that's mainly it, the story deserves a point also. Kino's Journey about 3 times which suprizes me because i really like all aspects of this show, the animation, the story, the meaning, the characters... yet only 3 times... compared to others that's not much at all. I do, from time to time, pull out the episodes *i'm putting this in spoiler tags just to be on the safe side* spoiler[ in the colleseum when she fights] those are just fun to watch. Speed Grapher about 3 times for the same reason as Gad Guard, i really like the inner city feel, and the charactrers... and the story (which i like a lot more than gad guard). Yeah i watch this mainly for the story after the first time. Kaze no Yojimbo In my new top 10 that i make, this is #2 or #1 (fruits basket or this one not sure)... but i've seen this one twice, it's just great, i love every aspect about it. The one thing i always thought was a little strange though is how there is a lack of usage of guns, for some reason in an anime like this, you'd expect a lot more, but nope. Either way, it's great. Okay yeah, i think... after typing all this up,i've come to understand that maybe i shoudl stop rewatching and kinda check some new seires' out. I think it's cause i didn't want to stumble upon a bad series that i've sorta held back a lot recently. My vow to myself is, not to watch another series for another time, for ... oh i say till valenties day. That's my new years resolution. -Elfen12- |

I can't think of any series that I have watched front-to-back more than once. Movies, yes.. .without a doubt (Studio Ghibli stuff is prime multi-watching material). But series? No. The closest I've come to re-watching is Naruto, which I watched significant parts dubbed on Cartoon Network, then watched the whole series on fansub, and am again going through (as I feel inspired) on the DVDs... so I've seen many of the first 40 episodes three times.
Rewatching comes into play for three reasons: I don't have anything else to watch (not something I will have to worry about for a long time due to my backlog), I want to share a series with a friend (and series are just too long to sit down and watch the whole thing with), or new episodes aren't being made and I want to watch something of a series I've already completed (this last one being more hypothetical). Random episodes, on the other hand? Shows like Azumanga Daioh and Cromartie High School easily lend themselves to single episode rewatching, since they are episodic series in nature. It is easy to be hanging out with a friend and say, "Hey, lets stick in (random episodes A) from Cromartie!" and have fun with it, since they largely don't rely on information from previous episodes and there is no overarching plot to worry about. |

While I generally don't buy my anime for single viewings only, there is one series that I've watched... and watched... and watched.
The Tenchi Muyo OAV's. Although my rate of re-watching has slowed dramatically since viewing #600, I still love to plug in my DVD's of this series and take it all in. Even this far on, it's still as humorous, heart-warming, dramatic, and triumphant as it was the first time I saw those Pioneer VHS's so long ago. It's a series that's genuinely good, and its characters are - as far as I'm concerned - timeless. Someday, who knows, I might leave the fandom and lose track of what's going on in anime as a whole but I'll still have my OAV's and I'll still be watching them. |

This thread is probabally going to get canned since most people are just listing crap but...
Way too many series to even mention. For starters nearly everything I own I've watched more than once over the course of the 8 years I've been compiling my anime collection. I watch everything I own in both languages included on the disc if possible. I also buy the majority of what I watch fansubbed and then watch it dubbed. Probabally the ones I've rewatched the most are Ai Yori Aoshi, Ergo Proxy, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Lunar Legend Tsukihime, and Vision of Escaflowne. |

Series I've watched 2 times or over:
Cowboy Bebop since it is my favorite show, probably overrated but still, a masterpiece. The best thing by far about the show is the characters, you have to have characters that you end up caring for if you want a great series imo. Samurai Champloo is a close second because Mugen is so badass. Great artstyle and great characters again. Deals with a lot of issues. Only thing I don't like about it is sometimes I feel the episodes end without clearing everything up, such as spoiler[ when Sara dies, they don't show how Fuu feels about it since she seemed to have grown close to her ] Ergo Proxy is a great series and very dark feeling. It gives you the feeling that everything is in ruins and the world is falling apart. Its great that they have two main characters, hard to decide which was the main main character, Re-l or Vincent Law. Wolf's Rain because of the characters. They do a good job of showing their background history and allows you to really connect with the characters. Its also a fun show to watch just because of the journey they're on to find paradise. What truly made this show great though is spoiler[ them all dying and finding what paradise is really like. Darcia can and cannot be considered a bad guy at the same time because he's a twisted character in which everything was taken away from him. The ending was a good way to show that the world is just reborn in the sorry state its in and nothing changes for the better. Its awesome how they left it so that they could continue the story and at the same time, it is concluded. ] |

There are really only two series that I've watched repeatedly:
Cowboy Bebop: Is probably one of my favorite series of all-time. I love the characters and the stories. I also really like the character designs and the overall look of the show itself. The music is top notch as well. Ghost in the Shell S.A.C./ 2nd GIG: I've probably seen these two about 5-6 times total. I really don't know what it is that draws me to this show. I guess I just love the complexities of the plot and the way the stories are told throughout the series. The English voice cast is also very good. |

I've watched the first volume of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig more than 3 times. It's such a great vol., at least to me. The action scenes are well drawn and played out, and the dialogue doesn't bore me to death.
