That DVD collection is certainly the biggest I've laid my eyes on, even containing lost treasures I've seen like Master Keaton and DNA^2.
But I have to wonder, with their lives involving the TV that much, why is their TV so small and low-res?
Or if they even get around to watching all that, half of the DVDs are still in their plastic wrapping unopened.

I would be interested in trying to get Ouran High School Host Club, but since I don't have much money this month, I'm not going to get it. Too bad.
As for the collection, holy cow. That's a lot of stuff this person has. It took me a while, but I found a bunch of things I have from that collection. I have from the anime, Cardcaptor Sakura the Movie 1 and 2, Cardcaptor Sakura, Castle in the Sky, Gunslinger Girl, Howl's Moving Castle, Mushishi, My Neighbor Totoro, Nausicaa, and Tsubasa. From the games, I have Phoenix Wright 1-3, Professor Layton, Phantom Hourglass, Wind Waker, Kingdom Hearts, and Rouge Galaxy.

First off, half of that collection is half-assed. As in, half of it are mediocre, or outright BAD titles. And in this day and age, that's one of the things that pisses me off about anime fans: They just don't give a shit about quality as much, as long as it looks and plays like anime, IT MUST BE PURCHASED.
...However, they got the uber limited print of Escaflowne TV series...so I partly forgive them |
I was waiting for someone to say something like this. I mean, yeah, that is one epic and impressive collection. However, while I did spot several anime that I really like, there were others that ain't that impressive. I may never have as many anime as they do, but in a way I'm glad. That collection has to cost a heck of amount of money, something that I struggle for. I wouldn't want to buy a collection that huge, only to find out I may have to sell it to pay the bills. Plus, I do have other things to do in my life, like prepare for a good career, and I do have another interest besides anime. I need the time and money for both.

If everything was up to personal taste, we wouldn't have ratings, reviews, and critics.
Not quite. Review and ratings and critics provide a guide, barometer, compass or whatever you want to call it.
I tend to think of them as "road signs". They tell you where the title is going, how far away the distination is, and warns of any obstacles along the way. It's up to you if you want to go that way, or not. Wink
I agree on that. Some of the anime I had dismissed in my collection were all based on critic's reviews, and especially my own review.

When you have a collection this big not everything is going to be golden, geeze.
Though you could use some Tenchi, and Boogiepop.

I like that people are complaining about their collection. Sorry their personal tastes like jive with yours, dudes.
In the future, I'll try to adopt this mindset for all my observations.
"Hey, sweet Aston Martin! Bummer on the color, though. Should've gone with silver. You totally blew your money."
"Nice house! Your furniture is ass, though, so pbfffffffffff."
"It's so great to meet your kids. Too bad their buck-toothed as hell, and their hair smells like cheese. Why the heck aren't they wearing sweaters?"

Exactly. I'd certainly give an odd look to someone if they checked out my collection, and said, "whoa, nice collection. Good choices, nice mix of popular and obscure. Wait a minute, where's the freakin' (insert title here)?!! And what in the world is (insert guilty pleasure here, for me it'd probably be Betterman and/or Inuyasha) doing there, that show is lame! This collection fails (because of a few titles)!!!"
