And yet, nobody is going to buy the overpriced set. Laughing

Wait for six months to one year and buy them for a lot less. One year after the The Wings of the Honneamise Blu-Ray/DVD pack was released I purchase the pack brand new from ebay for $37 sealed with priority mail (2-3 days) shipping and insurance. And many places still want $80 for it brand new.

Wait for a little while, then check ebay, some anime stores, and Amazon Marketplace. Amazon Marketplace have the Gunbuster collection brand new for low as $30 with priority mail shipping sealed.

I check ebay and you can get the Gunbuster 2 DVDs for low as $9.95 (MSRP is $39.99 per disc).

It sucks that you have to wait for a little while, but it'll save you money in the long run.

I won't be surprised that Freedom in a year will be around $60-$80 brand new.

Yeah, I would say it wont be too long before it goes down in price. Though, I wonder when Blu ray will be more like DVD.

Well there are online discounts. It's doubtful that anyone is paying $139.99.

Yeah, it'll be around $100 (30% off is typical), but that's still far too much for a 6 episode series. I paid less than $60 for the Band of Brothers Blu-ray set.

I can change my name to nobody Laughing Well for me i was planning to buy the Japanese release but when i found out about the US release i decided to go for it to save on the shipping cost and benefit from the online discount. Perhaps i was looking at it from a different perspective but for me it's an ok price.

I wouldn't pay $140 for a 26 episode boxset, blu-ray or not.

But that might just be me.

Who, pray tell, is REALLY going to pay $140 for Freedom, Blu-Ray or otherwise?

I know I won't, and even then not unless it gets a bilingual re-release. No dub, no sale.

Actually, it's got a dub, but it's only 2.0; if they had made it lossless 5.1, I might have picked it up for that $80.

I'd pay 140 for a 26 episode series, especially on blu-ray.

The fact of the matter is, however, that I usually pay more like 50-75.

I'd pay for it, if it guaranteed that the music issues wouldn't be a problem. (*cough* WKRP *cough*)

Actually, the lowest price in this forum is $80 at dvdpacific.

mania.com review wrote:

The language options for this release are considerably different than what we’ve had before. The previous high definition experience was either a solid uncompressed stereo mix or the Dolby Digital+ 5.1 mix that maxxed out at 1.5mpbs. And both of those language tracks were specifically Japanese. For this Honneamise release, it’s been given a trilingual release with all three languages done in Dolby TrueHD 5.1 with its variable lossless encoding. Remembering the experience of the lossless stereo mix on the HD DVD, this new mix simply rises far above that and provides an entirely different and engaging experience.

$80 isn't to bad. I just wonder what made them decide to put the MSRP at $140.
