I was wondering... is this new anime series Chobits any good? I have heard a lot of hype surrounding this series but it sounds like old hat. I was just curious if there is any substance to this series besides sex and panty shots. Thanks,

Chobits
As you can see, the general majority seem to enjoy Chobits for the most part. I liked it. I thought it was very cute and funny. It has its share of panty shots, nosebleed moments, and fluff, but it has enough substance to it that it's very enjoyable. |

All I'd say is see for yourself. I don't like to try and judge stuff for other people because we all like different things. I downloaded it more than a year ago before it was licensed and I absolutly love tha series and plan on buying it when a box set becomes avaliable. As far as substance it does have a story behind it that I found rather interesting and it also has some very good comedic relief.

I think Chobits is a very good anime...its that kinda cuteness that makes you think, "Awww!!! That's soooo cute!"

I would suggest reading the DVD reviews that you can find on the link lianncoop posted. Especially the review for[url="animenewsnetwork.com/reviews/display.php?id=591"]DVD 6.[/url] Zac, and others around the board, seem to agree that the second half of the series starting around episode 14/15 is much better than the first half.
Personally, I don't know how watchable the last 3 discs would be without knowing the characters and their personalities which would probably be explored/explained in the first episodes amist tons of panty shots. ... have you considered the manga instead?

it's really lame and overrated. i mean it has it's moments hear and there, but most it is the suck. the main problem is there's too much fanservice, and it's sappy as all hell.

If you don't like the idea of the whole robot girlfriend genre, then stay away from Chobits. That and the ecchi elements really turned me off after only a few episodes.

Chobits is a very cute and sweet anime and I highly recomend it.
Even though it has its share of fanservice, the really good ending and, in my oppinion, the standard level of ecchiness, make it a worthwile title. Go get it. Now. Its an order

It's got its ups and downs, so while it has fansevice it also has a real storyline. However, if you want to avoid the fanservice you might just want to pick up the manga (Which still has its moments, but less than the anime) and watch the last few episodes of the anime - which has a different (And some say better) ending.

chobits is a funny anime. it is very cute. i like it very much. this is just my oppion. it is up to you if you like it.

The Chobits anime is ok, personally I like the manga version better though. It all depends on your tastes, from what I've seen the anime is a light-hearted romantic comedy, maybe not as comedic as Love Hina but enough to make you smile. If that kind of thing's your bag go for it.
