wow, that's a very nice number. Change some things for the better and this could pass Otakon as the biggest con on the east coast.

Is there any feedback on this con? I'm thinking about attending next year!

Nice Nice! I've been to Toy Fair a couple of times at the Javits Center over there, how much of it does NY Anime Fest use?

Halls 1A and 1B of the Javits. 1A is dedicated to panels and video. 1B is the exhibitor room, artists alley, etc.
And it's an okay con as far as things go. The biggest changed needed is they need to add some of the rules that the other large cons have. They also need to get more space because as it is, the con feels really scrunched together and small. (This is mostly because, unlike most other convention centers, there is nearly no between space.)

dam* that was quick. Don't northern east coast con goers have enough cons to go to?

Never underestimate the power of your potential draw when you are in a city of 8 million residents, linked by a functional public transportation system.
Also remember that NYAF is *not* set up like a traditional convention, though it has some of those features. It is primarily a trade show, and is heavily focused on exhibit hall traffic.

I don't know if this this is specifically tickets, which could lead to person-days being counted, or just in the generic sense of some sort of permission to access an event for money or services tendered, but if they are unique attendees ... wow.

That's roughly 0.23% of the population of NYC. The definition of niche.

Obviously, as reported, they counted everyone, not just those "paid memberships."
I've been to both Otakon and NYAF, and no way NYAF could fit even nearly Otakon's usual numbers (~23k, before the jump this year) into just those 2 basement halls in the Javits (Otakon occupies the whole of Baltimore Convention Center). I'd guess probably half (about 10k) could fit at one time. (To get an idea how 10k is, it's just under the usual basketball game attendance.)
