The Galaxy Angel AA and X complete collections are out? I was waiting on the AA collection to buy it, and I had no idea X had even been released! Unfortunately I don't have any room in my budget for either of them, so I'll have to stick them on my Christmas list. Sigh.

I don't expect any of the other characters in the Death note movie to be all that great. However, I saw some of L: Change the World on YouTube, and live-action L is a pure delight. I can't wait to get my own copy of this movie, and hopefully they'll bring Change the World over soon!

Glad to see someone was into The Little Mermaid. xD
I enjoyed the 2nd movie better than the first one, actually. I'm going to the premiere once it hits NYC. I still have to say that I enjoyed Matusda's voice in the movie. It was the cutest thing ever. |

... they really do things different in California. Out East, we use theatres. Personally I was glad they spent even less time on "the great debate Light is supposed to have on whether his killing is right or wrong." It wasn't that long in the manga, fairly short in the anime, and there is only a brief mention in the movie. Good. It is up to the viewer to make their own decisions. Light made his. So lead, follow, or get out of the way. Alphabetized shelves (and sexily at that) *check* spends too much money *check* Here I was glad to see a collection I could relate to after the last few ... and then I saw all the empty space on the shelves. Oh well, maybe next week. Though first, the debate on whether he improperly shelved "Afro Samurai" under non-anime. |

The Death Note live action movie was definitely enjoyable but, yes, was a tad lackluster compared to the anime and manga. However, I thought the movie touched on something that neither of the other two did; how the Death Note can change fate. This comes when spoiler[Light has Misora's commit suicide after accidentally killing Shiori. I like this part because Light never wrote down exactly what would happen but it all fell into place.]
And I'm so happy to finally have Black Lagoon The Second Barrage in my hands. I've waited too long for that. The twins were, indeed, disturbing (being used in kiddie porn and having some sick pleasure in sticking needles into someone's head...) but that's why I love this show. |

Sweet shelves. It seems that Gregory isn't a Fumoffu fan, though
Cool to see both TTGL and Black Lagoon get shelf-worthy spots. I'm surprised you thought that things had toned down a bit in Second Barrage though, Bamboo; though I guess in a way you're right, since things aren't quite the same with the actual crew featuring less. But:
Yeah, ditto this. Marvelous brutality, the way only Black Lagoon can deliver. The Russians may even have been doing the twins a favor, given their state. Anyway, Revy and the gang show up more consistently after these episodes, so don't worry about that any more. On a related note, I wonder how vol. 3 will be viewed here, since that had -- for me, at least -- a really heart-pounding conclusion, and quite personal to the Black Lagoon crew as well. Spot-on review for Gurren Lagann, by the way; I think it really encapsulates the nature of the show. And yeah, the only thing worth watching from episode 16 is the alternate ED, which was pretty cool. |

That's one of the things I love about it. I don't have to follow it at all. GA is also the perfect mood changer if you have been watching a lot of dark stuff but just need a little pick me up. And it's not like you need to sit down and watch the whole thing to do it. Although I would argue it is anytime you have a spare 12 minutes. 
I haven't see X yet, but it seems Bandai decided to stop dubbing after episode 8(or episode 4 depending how you look at it.). Strange considering all of the other GA's they have done, and now towards the end of the line they start to stop. Weird. The Japanese cast is very good, and probably better on a whole. But over time I have also grown fond of the English cast as well. It's a shame. Plus if you really want to use GA for 'turn your brain off completely' fun, which I love to do with this show, then the English version is the better way to go. |

Hmm, I've never heard of someone describing their collection in thousands of dollars. Now, if I were to count all of my anime DVDs and multiply by an average of say...$22. Oh man! I don't think I want to know.
That brings up something I've been wondering. After being burned by Geneon last year, retailers may not want to carry most of the re-releases. They also may not have the space either. It's possible we may all have to rely on the online retailers like RACS and RightStuf. |

Light a complex character?? I really need an explanation for this. To me Light pretty fast turns into an average villian with no depth whatsoever. Even in the manga he is unscrupulous from the very beginning (Ryuk never saw anybody killing that many people in such a short time) and his change from bored high schooler trying to create a better world to god-complex psycho killing every innocent person in his way was pretty damn fast. From when he killed the first police/FBI agents - or even from when he killed the fake L - which is already in the first volume - Light never ever changes in any way, never questions his own actions or develops as a character ... till the very end. He hesitates a bit when thinking about killing his family, but that's all. Light's action may provoke moral questions for the readers ... but that doesn't make Light a complex character. Or did I forget something? oO |

What?! The blood and gore actually visible on the screen dramatically increased in the second season, particularly during the Vampire Twins arc. If anything, the second season was far more brutal than the first. I recall the swearing increased a lot more too (there was even some audio censorship in the later volumes), but maybe the dub was toned down. Like some of the others above, I haven't found a copy in the stores yet. |

I might want to get Black Lagoon, but I am not sure. Is it worth my money? As for the shelf collection, it is rather nice. I want to get Code Geass for sure, and I have Claymore, Naruto, Bleach, and Ghostbusters 1 & 2, which isn't anime but awesome movie none the less.

Am I the only person that really disliked live-action L? All his obsessive-compulsive mannerisms just seemed kind of dorky to me in live-action, where they seemed quirky and endearing animated. I also really loved Jar-Jar Ryuk.
