I really hope that this film isn't the low-budget, poorly acted mess that most japanese films are.

Actually 20th Century Boys is one of the only mangas that is really well-known in France (well mangas are quite important in my country since we have the second market for mangas specifically, and fifth for animes in the world). It won the Best Series Prize for the Angoulême international festival in 2004, and has been published for years in France (it finished in june with the last volume of 21th Century Boys), with a relatively high popularity even among the mainstream public. So it's not unexpected that the movie is appreciated here. And I must admit that Kaze, even if they are competitors of the company I work in, are doing a great job promoting the movie, and japanese animation in general...

They say the budget for the whole trilogy is 55.000.000$ so it shouldn't be too poorly made considering that you can do more with that sum in Japan than in Hollywood.

Here's one huge Urasawa Naoki fan hoping this doesn't suck. I agree that most Japanese live-action films are below the level of American ones as well as way below their anime productions (compare the "Death Note" live-action to the anime adaptation), which is sad given the legacy of people like Akira Kurosawa. Of course, I've liked some live-action adaptations like Nodame (glances at her avatar), but that was a comedy and you can get away with camp in one of those.
So anyways... yeah, keep your fingers crossed. Has anyone heard reviews coming out of France yet?

God I've been waiting for this for ages.
Does anyone know when we'll be able to see it?
Can't find any news about a DVD release...
