I laughed at the flake because usually they go into unwanted details. So I laughed in a good way.

Aswell, you may or may not be getting a question from me this upcoming week, it has to deal with Anime In Canada, sigh, it hurts typing that.

Amanda S. and NewYizer; you are to be arrested for plagiarism*. See my post last week.

Still, nice to know I wasn't the only one who felt that way.

Just kidding.

I didn't know whether to be mad the Kenneth guy (second to last answer) or laugh at his assumption that just because someone doesn't want to watch anime subbed, that they're annoying and not real anime fans. I mean, seriously? I love anime and there are some shows I will not watch subbed just because I'm used to and like their dub voices. Of course, I refuse to watch the dub of Ouran when it comes out because I don't like some of the choices Funi made with the casting decisions.

I find it funny how mostly everybody said they hated the fans.

The one thing that irks me about today's anime fanbase is how they don't appreciate the classics. Sure, Lucky Star and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya are great shows and all, but nothing compares to shows like Cowboy Bebop, Lupin the III, Akira, etc. Sometimes, the old shows are even better compared to the new animes (like Naruto, which is basically this generation's Dragon Ball Z).

Cowboy Bebop being called a "classic" = IRONY. If it takes 10 years for a fan to become an old geezer whining at the young whippersnappers who don't appreciate the classics, then the "real" classics from 30+ years ago must be cavemen drawings in comparison.

the worst thing about being an anime fan is the people around you who arent, they automatically assume that ur a child for watching it when there are some really dark and not so childish anime out there Smile

Basically, I'm embarrassed by the vocal minority--the ones who label Naruto, Inuyasha, Love Hina, Lucky Star,

Okay, frankly, I'm sick of Lucky Star being attacked.

I have yet to see an anime since or BEFORE its appearance that captured 'conversational' humor quite as well as Lucky Star has, managed it with both a fast and slow pace, while being understandable to 'fast readers'. I'm comparing it PRIMARILY to a little forgotten sitcom on Adult Swim called Home Movies.

I put Home Movies and Lucky Star in a tied number 2 slot for best animated comedy.

...Mission Hill has the number 1 slot.

Please, PLEASE compare to me another anime that has such good slow burning jokes based around akward and amusing conversations. And Genshiken doesn't count, that show was primarily focused around the whole 'fandom' lifestyle. Lucky Star, IMHO went into the 'normal' life territory and amusingly replicated actual conversations a NORMAL family would have. It was half otaku comedy, half... american type of comedy... With focus around japanese lifestyles? I dunno, I've never lived in japan.

Lucky Star isn't one of the BEST shows ever in existence, but it is by no means bad. It's just not within your tastes angry letter writer.

*sigh* Okay, ranting over.

It's amusing to see so many 'phone in answer' type of questions this week, the Funimation one kinda counting too... I mean, is it REALLY hard to understand that Funimation has their own Youtube channel? It seems pretty self explanatory WHY it is there. ._.

Name an anime series that's better than the manga it's based on, and tell us why.

Oh, I've got a response for this one (Elfen Lied), and I've got time to write it this weekend. Got to make sure I send it.

I continue that list:

FLCL
Samurai Champloo
Full Metal Panic! (I mean, comparing the manga, I'm sure the light novels are superior, but it probably doesn't help that ADV kind of... abandoned the manga market after a while and Full Metal Panic resulted with delays Anime hyper)
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (But that's because I love the extremely dark concepts beneath the benevolent looking surface. Seeing the characters go from normal to crazy is just priceless.)
Soul Eater (At LEAST for the first 15 or so chapters, after the "Fight to the Death" arc, the quality of everything steps up.)

That's nice.

The question also included "why" so if you're going to spam the thread with your responses to the Answerfans question without sending them into the column you could at least offer reasons why these series are better than the manga.

For crap's sake.

edit: And if you're trying to pull some kind of "nuff said!" crap then I would expect that you know that sort of stupidity isn't tolerated here.

oh man 'NewYizer' had me rolling with that depicted argument. funny stuff.

i liked the FLCL anime better than the manga. the manga art was... questionable. i was very impressed with what they were able to produce from that strange, poorly-drawn manga.

NewYizer was pretty awesome there.

The only thing in the fandom that I see annoying is that more people are putting an "s" on anime and manga.

Anime and manga are plural and singular!

"S" shouldn't be attached!

Violent Duck Fisting Porn

I gotta name a band that.

Also, should we be worried, dear Zac. Laughing

Genshiken was also far superior as a manga. But that seems sort of obvious.
