Question:
Why Tokyo Godfathers isn't DUB? The same is for MEMORIES. They made a dub right? Is it coming later on? |

Maybe its the Hollywood companies like Columbia TriStar and Dreamworks that are realizing that dubs are unnecessary.

Huh? I'm pretty sure most anime DVD sales come from dubs. And of course, a dub is basically a must if you want it on TV. As for the sub-only releases from Sony, I guess they're treating them like foreign films, which often aren't dubbed. Aiming for a different market, maybe? Or they decided the cost of producing a dub wouldn't be recovered by extra sales... |

Just because something helps sales doesn't make it necessity. I'm sure fan-service helps sales also. Isn't that called "selling-out"? |

I don't to read something that was meant to be heard. If they are treating it like forieng film. That sucks especially since... MADE A DUB OF IT FOR THEATRES!!! At least the showed a dub version on the trailer. So I imagened that showed a dubbed version on theatres. Hopefully they will bring a dub version. |

...What are you talking about? Fanservice has nothing to do with dubs. Dubs are a critical part of the anime industry, and they make your subtitled releases cheaper. Does their inclusion on DVD releases bother you or something? |

I don't know why'd they'd release a sub version. And then go back and release a dubbed version. They would probably do it together if they were going to do it. So...I think you're going to be stuck with the sub. |

ME??? Stuck??? Hell no... I won't buy it. Bandai brought Gundam sub-only at the beginning. Columbia is a bigger company than Bandai. So... I still have hope. Millenium Actress, Memories, Tokyo Godfathers and Streamboy are animes i have been waiting for and not releasing them without a dub scratch them off my list. I hope they don't screw Steamboy. I'd love to know what language you're speaking, you temperamental little imp. Just about the only thing I can decipher from your babbling nonsense is a bunch of all-caps cursing that just barely passes for legible. Calm down and at least try to make a halfhearted attempt at clarity.
......What? The only sub-only Gundam property being put out in R1 is the MS Gundam movie trilogy. The original TV series is dub-only and everything else is bilingual (I think the Zeta box is sub-only, but bilingual single volumes follow that release, so...yeah...moot). |

Bandai release Gundam sub-only when they were starting by way of Animevillage.com And I didn't came to this thread to be insulted. I just ask if Columbia usually release a dub version after releasing the sub-only version. That all! I see i get more insults than anwsers. |

That's because people barely understand you because you can't even put a proper sentence together unless someone verbally beats it out of you. Rule of thumb, you get more intelligent, polite responses with intelligent, polite questions.
Which version of Gundam are you referring to? Movies or TV series? The movies were sub-only, but Bandai never, ever even had the TV series' Japanese audio track. |

Well, I'm not even going to get into the sub/dub "argument" if there even is an "argument", because the "arguments" are just opinons. But, imo discriminating against a good show just because it's in a different language is not a good thing to base your purchases off of. I mean, it could be a great movie/show, and you're not even willing to give it a chance. I'm not "insulting" you, I just don't know why you're so set on not even giving them the time of day... |

Tokyo Godfathers is uniquely Japanese, even if it is a remake of an American movie. As for Memories, it was probably expensive enough getting the dvd rights.

Actually they didn't show a dub of it in theaters. It was subtitled. And let's not forget that Kon's last work, Millenium Actress, was sub only when it came out on DVD in North America. So I'm not surprised that this one is too. |
