"and the company indicates that all the episodes will be completed by Spring of 2009. "
Well thats good to know, I mean they'll be done just in time to air the last episode.

Actually, there are about 39 weeks, not 26 weeks, between July and Spring of 2009. Not only does this PR tells us for the first time how many episodes Slayers Revolution will be, but we also get the first hint that the series will be split into two halves with a one-season break in between.

that was quick,
Slayers is bloody kick ass and right after Eva was the second gateway anime i came across. I'm going to preorder it as soon as TRSI lists it, and honestly i hope they get it like they did the rerelease of Lost Universe (another one i got all on VHS back in the old days.)
I may still check out any fansubs that pop out, but after 3 seasons 5 movies and many OAVs nothing much will stop me from getting this one when it gets released here.

Wait, though.
Does that mean there's an implication that FUNimation doesn't necessarily have an option for the title? Or that maybe they haven't exercised an option for it? Doesn't FUNi still have the licenses for the first 3 seasons?
Actually, for that matter, isn't it a bit unusual for licensing solicitations to go out as press releases?

While it isn't a 100% guarantee, its pretty safe to assume that Funimation is going to get the license.

If the offer isn't a. timely and b. with decent content I'll stick with R2 DVDs when they come out.

Is there still a market for Slayers in R1?

Based on the large number of hits that the few blog entries I've made about the new Slayers series are getting (here and here and here), I'd say yes.

Why there shouldn't be one? Better clarify with some examples.

I hope they can get the New York cast. I understand they tried to get the NY cast when they were doing Slayers Premium but could only get Crispin. I have heard/seen clips of the cast of Premium and I'm sorry but only the New York cast should do it. This happens occasionally: the controversial voice casting change.

Can someone clarify. I'm not certain what Enoki Films' role in this is. Are they just acting as a middle man trying to get a US company to license the series? So if someone were to pick it up they'd pay Enoki a finders fee or something?
If this is right, I didn't even realize there was a market for a middle man in anime licensing.

I just hope it gets licensed soon. I can't wait to see it.
As far as casting, I would prefer if they had either cast entirely, but as long as it has Crispin Freeman as Zelgadiss...

There's always a market for free fansubs.

I hope so too, but I remember reading something along the lines of they can't dub outside of 4kids. If I can find the article...
