To American movie producers: learn from your European counterparts when selecting which manga/anime to adapt.

Don't be hatin' on skinny Goku.

I can already imagine some people complaining about the change in setting. The story of this manga about as universal as they come, so I don't see anything wrong with setting it in Paris.

Wonderful. It's about time the European community started adapting some films on a bigger scale (I'm assuming this will be reasonably big). I guess it will be in French though? That's going to be weird... Japanese setting with French voices and English subtitles O_O

Sounds interesting. I don't think I've seen a Belgian film since Man Bites Dog. And even if the film turns out to be a dud, it should improve the chances of the manga being brought over here.

It's not going to be set in Japan - it'll be set in Paris.

On Ponent Mon's website they have a listing that Harukana Machi E has been licensed by them. Might want to include that in the article and the manga entry.

But I don't think he's goin' Super Saiyan.

Man, the Europeans just love Taniguchi, don't they? Adapting the best thing he's ever done? I can dig it.

Might want to watch it if it were to become available in English somehow...

Done, with main title changed to Distant Neighbourhood. It's not very visible under "In the making" Arrow "In preparation" tags; took me two minutes to locate it. Anime smallmouth + sweatdrop

In fact I wasn't referring to DB... but yeah, the same rule applies to that as well.

I'd say the chances are good it'll get a subbed UK release through either Optimum, Tartan or Arrow.

I guess I can accept this sort of adaptation- it's not a sci-fi as such, so in relocating the setting only the plot will remain resemblant of the manga. As such I'd see it more as an original production "inspired by" the manga than an attempt to eclipse the original.

That's a pity, I don't like French movies. Though it's Belgian, I don't think it'll make a big difference.

Yes we do. But don't hope too much of this film.

I have to say I'm very surprised and glad of this choice. There was an adaptation of Harlock that had to be produced in France too.
