If so, how could I go about doing it? There are a few minor shows I found to be missing, such as the School Days Valentine OVA and the new Shanatan (Shakugan no Shanatan Begins). I can summarize both and provide genres and stuff like that, but if proof of a show's existence is needed in order to add it, I'm not sure where I can find things like that.

Encyclopedia tab -> anime link -> "Add an anime" link

In fact, both have been submitted by others and are waiting for approval. There are, however, a few reasons for why they are still in the line:

1. In the specific cases of School Days: Valentine Days and various omake "movies" of Shakugan no Shana, please refer to this post for the ambiguity we are facing.

2. In some other cases, similar to the last sentence of your post: little or no information about the very existence of the show have been provided. While most recent and well-known titles have been added to the Encyclopedia already, searching vintage titles from scratch can take hours (worse if a title is composed of only one or two common words e.g. information about "One" or "Air" are much more difficult to search than "Kanon" or "Clannad;" one must add more keywords e.g. "Kyoto Animation" for the former two), and unless we've really got nothing else to do (remember that we are all volunteers and have our own lives) we wouldn't place such activity to the top of to-do list. Rather, we'd like to handle those provided with official and/or authoritative sources first.

Where did you acquire them then? A source of information is always useful, legal or not, although most fansub hubs have little useful information.

I'm getting an "invalid format" message while trying to submit Linkin Park's "Breaking the Habit" music video. This is the source: http://www.gonzo.co.jp/works/others.html (bottom of the page) and this is an image of the message error.

What am I doing wrong?

I experienced the same yesterday while trying to add an anime. I have tried different combinations, apart from the “title: subtitle (type)”, but always got the error message. I hoped I won't be banned for spamming due to trying many times. Wink Finally (frustrated enough), I gave up thinking I just didn’t know how to do it. Confused

No quotation marks.

Dan, you might want to revise the guide and use boldface or underline, instead of user-submittable characters (like quotation marks or parentheses), to mark the variable part.

By the way, promotional music videos, as well as other titles listed on the same page e.g. GLOBARANGE being a "merchandise introductory PR animation" (商品紹介PRアニメ), are not considered as independent titles.

So, I really didn't know how to do it after all. Rolling Eyes I kept putting the quotation marks there, because I thought there were a part of the example.

I have one more question, what are the rules to add any non-Japanese anime? In the Encyclopedia, there are some, like Oseam or Sky Blue, but I haven't found any clear, i.e. clear for a newbie like me, rules. I have tried to go though relevant threads, but I am still not sure and I don't want to waste editors' time checking unacceptable titles.

Would it be possible to give any good, I know, these are already in the Encyclopedia, or bad example(s)?

Thank you, fti9, I have seen it before, but reading it again was useful.

Many of them may look Asian (especially Teen Titans, which uses a lot of anime art styles), but there's just no place for them on the ANN Encyclopedia.
Original post here

"Asian" and "anime art" as basic key words in present. Idea I was about to add Kaena: The Prophecy, but this saved the time.

When it comes to that special category, the rule is: Do NOT bother submitting non-Japanese "anime" (a.k.a. non-anime).

ANN staff might add non-anime titles to the Encyclopedia IF and WHEN they feel necessary, on a completely ad-hoc and arbitrary basis. Usually because the title is mentioned in the news. The non-anime titles that are currently in the Encyclopedia do not constitute a precedent in any way as to the inclusion of future titles (i.e. "since you have A, why not B?" is not a valid reason). In short, all those titles are there as a complement to the anime titles, and you should not find it too strange if they were all deleted tomorrow.
