Persona -Trinity Soul- was removed from Crunchyrool because it was "licensed." Any word on this or is this simply the Japanese getting pissed at Crunchyroll?

no word so far, as stated before, it could be that since crunchy roll is turning somewhat legit( with their gonzo partnership) things have gotten a bit tighter on them, I heard they also removed all the gundam shows with the same license excuse also. Or it could be they are getting letters from japan because they stick out like a sore thumb with their whole gonzo thing, and are the first target that comes to mind when who to pick on for streaming shows. Or maybe someone did license it though, persona 3 has been a hit ps2 title so it would make since to cash in on it and get the anime. I notice that on the page it notes it as licensed by aniplex, which is a Japanese company, so I think it is the japanese doing, however looking at aniplex on ann shows me just about everything they are involved in gets licensed.

It is the policy of the site (and has been for as long as I can remember) to remove all material that is licensed in the United States, and from what I've seen they are pretty good at sticking to it. They've even taken off shows like True Tears and Kure-nai while they were still airing in Japan because they were licensed.

I'm glad I went to that site just now and had Clannad spoiled for me. I would've hated finding out what happens for myself.
But yeah, who licensed it? That's kind of a key detail. |

It said right on that page, "Licensed by Aniplex."

There's no way that was there yesterday, and you people are definitely messing with me.
![]() But since when does Aniplex even put out DVDs? I remember seeing their name after the credits in FMA. Are they part of Funimation? |

The Encyclopedia's so handy!
They are a production house, and I assume they manage rights for their properties. Crunchyroll likely lists it as "Licensed by Aniplex" because they don't have the structure to display anything more subtle than "Licensed by ____", such as "Internationally enforceable copyright held by ____." If a US license had been announced for it, it would've shown up on the front pages of ANN/AoD. So CR probably got the removal notice from the Japanese side of things. |

I wish this would get licensed so we can attempt to get a screener of it to show at Yasumicon from Atlus.
That plus i'd definitely buy this one. Love the persona games and can't wait to play my Persona 3: FES ![]() |

They're Sony Japan's animation wing. They used to go by the name SPE/SME Visual Works Inc., and changed around the time that Pioneer became Geneon. My guess is that either Funimation is in talks to pick it up, as it really does seem to be something they'd be interested in, or else Sony's going to shop the show over here like they did with Blood+. |
