At least two of these links don't work, although http://www.atlus.com/baroque/ seems to. Case sensitive I guess.

Baroque is a manga, thus the game is based on the manga series, which is why, I assume, ANN is reporting on this.

Well, they also have banner adds for F2P Korean MMOs all over the site. I think Zac or JSevakis mentioned a while back that they've decided to start posting articles and news reports about things that "people who enjoy anime" might find interesting, and since a lot of people who like anime seem to like Japanese culture in general, that leads to them covering games as well. Especially the first true RPG for the Wii. (As awesome as Zelda was, it doesn't count, it's an action game.)

Too bad nintendo power gave this a 3.0. I don't ONLY go by critics and reviews, but 3.0 is pretty damn low and I have kept up with a lot of scores from NP, they're pretty decent.

I intend to check it out at work sometime for free, but this is one of the last titles I'm looking forward too on the wii.

It should also be noted that this is a press release, not an article written by anyone at ANN.

I'd be inclined to believe that, but the trivia page says it's the other way around, weird (I mean it's not a franchise or anything, right?).

What about Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors and Opoona (some would even had Alien Syndrome and Pokemon Battle Revolution, but I wouldn't really label them as such)?

Yeah, and GameRankings tells me they gave Okami a 7.5/10, come on!

But if you agree Okami is an amazing game, then that's only 1-2 points off. 3.0 + 2 is still not very much.

What I've heard about Okami's review was that they were harsh on the control scheme. It's hard to say who's at fault here. NP for not being lenient enough or the developers responsible for the port who ran out of buttons on the wii controls. It's also easy to think that almost anyone on this board into games will love Okami due to it's content.

One review isn't the end of the world, but Baroque sure has a lot of room to make up with other critics. I'll still be checking it out sometime and I'll still be getting Okami, however.

Yeah, I'm inclined to agree. I have to point out that none of us can really say for sure that their score for Okami isn't spot on since none of us have played it. Maybe the new controls do actually severely hurt the game and it deserves that score.

Anyway, one review thats perhaps a little low hardly makes their overall credibility questionable. I dunno, maybe Baroque isn't that bad but I find it rather tough to believe that it could receive such a score and be any better than passable.

I kid you not,Okami is about a 35 to 40 hour game.PS2 version anyway. That's not long for the hardcore, but I'm sure the reviewer only played a quarter of it to get that Gamerankings score.I would have to say that the Wii control would be easier to manage, the PS2 controls are terrible for the brush precision.Oh and enjoy Baroque on the Wii,I'm grabbing it for PS2.

Nintendo Power reviews Mad

Ever since the decline of Square after it merged with Enix, Atlus has always been the best in my book when it comes to RPGs. I just hope that the gameplay is improved upon Raidou Kuzunoha.

I noticed that the characters are once again designed by the same one who designed the characters for Persona 3 and Stella Deus, while his/her designs are indeed eye candy, I truly miss Kaneko Kazuma's designs which IMO pack more style and personality. I wonder what he's doing right now and whether he's still working with Atlus.

It talked about how hard it was to be precise with the wii remote while painting and it's easy to see that. Yes you can be VERY precise, but the person controlling has to be precise themself and not rely on the analog stick. Also, there's "waggle" to attack, so to combo you have to waggle in time. That could definitely hurt. Again, they kind of ran out of button room there so it's hard to say who's at fault here and it might work better than NP lets on. I loved waggle to attack in Twilight Princess personally.

And normally, professional reviewers play the entire game, just like they watch the entire anime, before the review is made.
