I've been enjoying this anime more than I haven't though I guess my one critique besides the serviceable visuals is just how mostly to the point the whole mystery uncovering is. A lot of people compare the show to death parade but I'd say a better comparison would probably be shepherd house hotel, a manga which also uses a sentient hotel with supernatural staff and a constantly updating experience to reveal the truth behind the death's of its residents. Where the two differ is that shepherd house hotel involves the whole hotel, not just your room, twisting and bending it in order to fulfill the last wishes of the people living within it, whether said wishes are positive or negative. Tasokare plays it too safe by comparison, all the memory updates are for the sake of a point and clock search where characters kind of explain their feelings and the lessons they should take out of it.

As for Masaki's little shitshow, other than the fact that they should have tied this dude to a chair and locked him in his room (he certainly does not need to be anywhere else to unlock his memories and they especially should not have let him walk around considering that apparently in the game spoiler[he also raped all the women before he murdered them and that apparently won't send you to hell so he's still a danger to the staff]), I think the point of him getting off Scottfree seems to be tied less with intent and more with proximity to the murder weapon. It's still feels excessive to hold someone accountable just for happening to be holding the weapon that some decided to gank herself with

This show is pretty good. It reminds me of Death Parade but without the games. Weebs are only interested in Mappa level animation and shonen these days. The show has 4 episodes and its already a 6 on MAL Rolling Eyes

I thought the Hotel was a way station for people who got lost in transition and don't remember who they are or know if they're dead or alive. Kaneko puts the lie to all of that, since she knows who she is, and after the convenient radio broadcast, knows she's dead. Traditional lore is that people who die with regrets may hang around on the living plane as ghosts, but the Hotel has not previously been advertised as a place to resolve those regrets. That's generally been a side-effect of remembering who they are and how they (nearly, maybe) died. So I don't know what Kaneko is even doing there still. She should be off haunting radios with her song or something.

There's technically room for a person who is very interested in Kaneko (e.g. Yuria), whose head is shaped like Kaneko until she finds her real name.
