This made my day.
Side scrolling shooter with RPG elements is not really my type of game but it looks amazing |

I haven't watched the show since I was a kid, but that English trailer brought back a lot of nostalgia of mornings before middle school, eating cereal, and watching this, then Carmen San Diego.
If Limited Run Games puts this on a disc, I'll definitely pick it up. Looks like a mashup of Mega Man, Ninja Gaiden, and Metroid-vania style all rolled into one. |

Bad Bird is definitely getting recast because his voice actor died in 2021.

I enjoyed the original Famicom game so I hope this new one is good as well.

So I assume this game's American release will have the Japanese voice included right? Will the subtitle include the translation of the Japanese audio including their Japanese name if you play it with Japanese voice?
I mean some of us do know the characters names by their Japanese names over the English-localized names. I mean I find their Japanese names a lot easier to remember than their English-localized names. |

I don't know of any game that does that. There might be a Japanese voice option but they're not going to change the subtitles or graphics to match the names and dialog. You'd probably have to get the Japanese release (if there is one) or perhaps there will be in in-game language option but it will also more than likely make the entire game text in Japanese. Your best hope is someone will make an un-localization mod |

I can't believe they brought the "Samurai Pizza Cats" back from the dead. I don't believe it. I know there are people who like the show, but shouldn't they have made this video game a long time ago? Why did they wait so long to do this? Yeah, the nostalgia's strong with this one,but I don't really see it. I'm amazed the Japanese company who originally made this show went along with this. They would have well within their right to have said no to this thing.
I'm still amazed they made a game from this show. There just doesn't seem to be any reason for it outside of the nostalgia factor. I'm just surprised they did something like this. What next? Are they going to rerun the anime somewhere or are they going to do a new version of this for Americans? I'd probably be surprised if they did that. |

There is a game on Famicom, released only in Japan of course. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8012gzDnMc But there is an English fan translation with some reworked art. |

The Japanese staff actually loved the Samurai Pizza Cats dub and the anime staff even produced their own doujinshi of the anime based on the English localization. As for why this game is being made, it's the 35th anniversary of the anime so it's not that surprising they would do something to celebrate it and give something special back to the international fans. There's also been some merchandise figures made in Japan in the last few years.

The people who were kids watching the show are now old enough to not just buy games, but make them, too. Additionally, the success of Shredder's Revenge seems to have inspired a horde of similar retro game revivals, from Power Rangers, Rugrats, Toxic Crusaders, GI Joe, etc. |

I gotta say, the hand drawn animation for the characters is absolutely gorgeous. Every screen shot looks like a weird angled frame from the show.

Snomaster, I don't know how to react to this post of yours, I agreed with the people that replied to your post, did you forget that there are people out there that grew up watching the series when it was first shown in the US? Did you forget that the series both the English-language version, and the Japanese-language version of the anime series has been made available in the US for almost a decade thanks to Discotek. I mean there's been a wave of old-school anime getting picked up in the US that has never had a previous release before. So be a little bit more open-minded here. |

I recall someone mentioned one of the Yakuza games changes subtitles to match the English or Japanese track. But in most cases I'd think one set of subtitles for all audio tracks would be the expectation. |
