Daiki Yamashita did a fantastic job as Noel and made his many antics compelling to watch. Alma was also plenty of fun. The animation was better than I expected from the PV too, and the persistent snake imagery worked well in showing Noel's ploys. Settingwise, I appreciate how it's more industrial than you'd expect. It's a shame that we won't get a second season for a good while due to a lack of source material.

Yeah, the anime covered novels 1-2, and the author hasn't released anything new since Vol 4.
Some people who looked through the author's Twitter claim the author has been working on Vol 5 all this while, although they've been delayed by the story's length, and supervising the manga and anime adaptations.

I dont even think they finished Volume 2. It took like 8-9 episodes just to finish Volume 1.

its highly unlikely. this series alongside the greatest magician in the demon lords army was a human and kingdom of ruin are basically source material advertisment!
they get one season only, and thats it. the rest will have to come from the source materials!
i highly doubt people would be interested in a second season. the main character is too unlikable!
even for an anti hero type, he acts in the same way that made other anti heroes like keyaru (redo of healer) and especially adonis (kingdom of ruin) extremely hated MCs among the jp source material community.
and from the way ep 12 went he might enter light yagami's territory and be known not as an anti hero but as a bonifide villain which will have dire consquences for ALL seekers in the long term
a true anti hero dont do heroic things without an self serving agenda sure, but at the same time limits their stances and dont throw away their humanity so that they do not cross the line and enter into scum territory.
its more or less the reasons why anti heroes like lelouch or even archer from fate stay night were well liked. hell, even the MC from fatal frame whose an anti hero/revenge type, still kept his humanity at times and doesnt crosses a line towards a point of no return!
bottom line is that there is a right way and a wrong way to have an anti hero character!
and unfortunately, this series definitely struck out by doing the latter!
it will be nothing short of a miracle if it ever did get a S2!
