Sooo if this helps the defendant gain leniency then... no more media access for people with schizophrenia? Like I'm kinda confused where they'd go in rehabilitation if watching something could trigger such a reaction for this person.

I've heard a lot of strange defenses in cases like these and that includes the Twinkie Defense from back in the day,but this one is one of the weirdest I've ever heard of. A schizophrenic man claims he was recreating a scene from an anime and then someone died? I'm not sure I want to imagine it if someone like him attempted to recreate a "Looney Tunes" scene. Most people would look at it and say "What the heck is this?"

For those who don't get it:
The defence is not trying to demonstrate innocence, but that the guy is missing cards of the full deck.
"My defendant couldn't discern reality from fiction because schizophrenia, he thought he was in an anime, please send him to an asylum".
That's what the defence.

Got it. But I can imagine the moral entrepreneurs claiming this shows that anime is satanic and a danger, or something. Mark my words. Here in Portugal, we had the prime-minister's wife talking about the negative influence of Dragon Ball (and, I think, Sailor Moon) on the youth. Different countries, I know. But these types exist everywhere.
