Move over "original story by", "story composition" is the perfect kind of title for Urobuchi. The kind that supposedly tells you what the job entails but not actually, and nicely obfuscates how little involvement he likely has in the project beyond handing somebody an outline he doodled in between working with puppets.

Oh wow, and this make sense. The game although developed by a western game studio did a good job portraying Japan in a way that not a lot of western studio. Sucker Punch Studio did a hell of a good job with portraying Japan with Ghost of Tsushima. They went the extra mile to even include the Japanese dub for the North American/US version of the game (and one that I'm willing to play in Japanese dub over the English original, and I say this as someone who watches anime dubbed in English).

So I take it this anime will be a full-on adaptation or tie to the game, and it won't be an anime anthology a la Halo Legends or Star Wars: Vision. I wonder the voice cast for both English and Japanese from the game will reprise their roles for the anime.

To be honest, anything can happen with this. Why you keep saying Western for stuff like this? You mean American. You sure talk a lot on stuff like this. .

Did you played the game? Do you know who the developer were? Do you know what country made the game? Did you do any research on the game before you made this post?

If you don't know, then I questioned why would you write that. I take it you never watched The Animatrix, Batman: Gotham Knight, Halo Legends, or Star Wars: Vision prior to reading this post?

So is this going to cover the same material as the planned movie?

It seems that the live action movie will be somewhat more faithful to the game compared to this. (focusing on Jin's journey)
The anime in comparison carries the game's multiplayer mode subtitle: Legends.

People here really have 0 comprehension abilities huh?

the post literally tells you the anime is gonna adapt ghost of tsushima: legends and NOT the actual game itself.

ghost of tsushima: legends is not the main game, it's a free multiplayer co-op expansion where you just clear stages, grind gear, and fight against supernatural enemies driven from japanese mythology.

it has NOTHING to do with the main game or the story of the main game. and if I remember correctly the mode itself doesn't have a plot, it's basically just mindless grinding for gear.

GoT continues to be one of the most overrated games of the past decade, and I'm sure this anime will either be itself overrated or crash and burn with people not realizing the IP as a whole sucks.

That's kind of a funny thing to say when the Japanese localization had to correct several inaccuracies.

Well nobody's perfect, but Sucker Punch Studio came very close though, I give them prop for that.

There is a thin plot, although I'd probably say it's more of a premise than an outright plot. Basically, with each successful stage you work your way up a hierarchy towards battling an evil deity, which was then the subject of a raid mode.

This isn't a bad idea considering it has something to work with while still leaving lots of room for a writer to fill in everything around it.

I have a Platinum Trophy in the game and the story is best described as perfunctory. The game turning out to be a criticism of the Bushido Code and Japan´s class system is the only thing that stands out. Don´t even ask me how one is supposed to adapt the titular non-canon coop multiplayer. It´s about going to war with Oni. I am baffled.

Sekiro has more going on and it ran its story in the background. Robertooo!

It feels like western corporations just want in on the anime wave because it's the next big thing, they just wanna be able to say, "this is now anime", damn the quality of the final product, all the while not contributing even an iota to improve the working conditions of the industry.

Star Wars Visions is a perfect example of that, just a mish-mash of studios telling pretty much the same jedi vs sith story over and over, in a nebulous point in the canon timeline, with characters no one knows or cares about, all in all, completely forgettable experience.

Funnily enough, Urobuchi also got credited for the rwby anime (I believe it was for "original story") and we all know what a garbage fire that one was.

There's quite a gap between "made an effort and stumbled some" and "clearly didn't do more than the most basic research", and SP very clearly fell into the latter if you look at the changes made for the Japanese version.

Honestly, I agree the game is extremely overraided, as a game. It was basically a mid-tier story with average gameplay similar to Assassin's Creed games with slightly better combat. Still vastly inferior to the samurai/ninja game that released just a year prior, Sekiro... which also had a better story. Ghost of Tsushima just tried way too hard to be a Kurosawa film when it didn't have the writing required.

But yeah, this is Legends. Basic story that has a lot of room to be filled by good writers. However, seeing Gen's named using this way suggests to me he's only here to sell it. The studio has never made a single good anime so I'm not expecting this to be good either. I really enjoyed "Legends" in the game so I hope it's good but I just can't get existed.

How's that any different from Japanese games making changes for the overseas market like what they did back in the NES era?
