I'm quite surpised and at the same time not by the fact that the game will arrive on the Nintendo Switch, the original game arrived on Switch more than half a year after it launched on other consoles, but unlike many other late ports its debut numbers in Japan were very close to what it sold on PS4 and on its second week in actually managed to sell five thousand more copies to what it sold on PS4. And the thing is that CyberConnect 2 actually conducted a poll asking people where would they like to play Demon Slayer and I think ninety percent answered they wanted to play the game on the Switch. Now that the Switch has become the best-selling console of all time in Japan and that Demon Slayers continues to be popular, it would be dumb idea for the the new game to skip the platform, though if CC2 didn't announce a Switch version I'm sure many would say they're just waiting for Nintendo to reveal the Switch's succesor, but rumors now say the console will arrive on June next year.

After seeing the setup for the Infinity Castle arc, I genuinely think Demon Slayer could make a great Metroidvania/Igavania. Instead, we have an arena fighter. Guess there’s no sense messing with success.

Not a very good arena fighter either. I agree with you. If they made a really tight fighting game I'd be on board, but it's more to see your fan favorites spam their moves. It's fine for about an hour, but you get the same enjoyment watching those moves played in a YouTube clip.
