Even more than Death Parade, it sounds like the early Kore-eda film, After Life (ワンダフルライフ, Wandafuru Raifu), a film that made me a life-long Kore-eda fan.

The plot reminds me more of Shepherd House Hotel.
But honestly afterlife episodic stuff is pretty popular... Shigofumi was sort of similar.
