I always was impressed by Erza using the Seduction Armor.
That armor was actually mentioned 1 million years ago during the Tenrou Island Arc when she thinks for a second to use it against Azuma, and we see it in a really little thought bubble you can perfectly miss. I remember it because it made me laugh that Erza immediately says "I can't do that, I am not Lucy!". Anyways, it was impressive that they remembered such little detail. |

I do like how these comedic intro aren't just fun gags but actually have some thematic relevancy to what actually happens in the episode.
Poor Lucy made such a big show and can only do one big attack...that takes out Lisanna but not her stronger siblings. Poor Lisanna though, i guess she was undone by changing into a less skimpy costume. I love how Erza probably assumed this would just be like her first fight with Jellal and not that Jellal would be so down bad for her it would override the brainwashing and make him come onto her...with no clothes on. And then it becomes a seduction fight, complete with cosplay, that she actually loses. And let's add Laxus and Kilmaria for more fun! Gajeel can't beat Natsu but he does have a girl who loves him to bits and will protect him from anyone. And even Natsu draws the line at punching a pregnant woman. It's nice to see Gray get to flex with his Demon-Slaying magic. Poor Wendy. |

By the way: the reason these random sketches like the Gajeel/Levy ones feel shoehorned its because these are short 3-4 bonus X.5 manga chapters (this one being chapter 39.5).
It's nice to see these X.5 chapters being animated, anime adaptations tent to ignore them precisely because it's hard to add them, of course is FT (of all series) the one that says "Screw it" and just animates them. |

Always considered the heaven sequence to be cannon.
Nobody knew that August was Zeref and Mavis' child, it makes 0 sense for Natsu to know it, so, its either canon or a monumental plot hole. |

oh it is definitely canon. there are times when authors want to put certain scenes in the manga, but got over ruled by their publishers after all! the only surprise was that hades/prett was not with them let alone future lucy or anna! |

Do Lucy's boobs need to have so much jiggle animation in Taurus form? No, but it's appreciated. As is snake Lisanna. I love how having sex with Erza takes priority of Jellal's actual brainwashing job. Even knowing Zeref and Mavis reincarnate and this might all just be in Natsu's head...it's nice to see some old faces together and happy. Especially seeing Zeref and Mavis with their two sons. Ha! Natsu fights a ghost! And happy! Nobody is on deaths door as much as Makarov so of course he gets possessed. |

Jellal telling Erza “I shall now dye you white” sure hits differently (or maybe it was meant as innuendo?). I got the best laugh from this!

As long as we're bringing up how Cana had to be drunk for days to make her scene in this episode work, did anyone else notice how Erza jumped from one of Aldoron's hands to the next in what looks like a handful of hours despite how big a single town looks?

Coo-Coo Wendy is surprisingly cute. And still competent!
I see Jellal has awakened a bondage fetish. Though I actually like the idea of Erza wanting to be more physically intimate with him... So Cana was so @#$%-faced drunk that she went along with her guild being brainwashed and losing her clothes without any real idea what was going on? And could've done severe damage to a city by unleashing Fairy Glitter so casually if not for Lucy? Only in Fairy Tail! Makarov and Porlyusica's seiyuu trying to sound young was...surreal. Cana's gotta catch 'em all! Well, can't say Natsu's logic about where the Final Boss would be was off-base, he just didn't expect to see Touka instead of the White Mage. Also Natsu's "I would do anything for the Guild" can get kind of dark when you think about it... |

Hmmm. The battle between Erza and Laxus felt strange to me. How is Laxus so much stronger than Erza? She’s faced countless stronger opponents and never lost in the end. Who the hell used red lighting during the battle of Alvarez? Why does Laxus always bulk up randomly?
Touka is really an exceed? So how can she maintain human form for so long when the others can’t? Poor Happy is the only one who can’t take a human form. Good on Happy for knocking the shit out of Touka with the orb. I was thinking someone should do just that lol. |

This side story next week isn't any I know of from the manga. It's probably going to be an unplanned recap episode made while the studio gets a replacement for Madmole's seiyuu.

Ha, Lucy getting all awkward at the idea of another girl being interested in Natsu.
The surprise insert song definitely made Erza vs Laxus' fight more epic than the animation did. It's like one minute you think there's going to be cool sakuga and then they immediately cut away. Touka is even cuter in Exceed form (and I guess that explains why she assumed Happy was the "hero"). Honestly Happy is making no progress with Charle so maybe he should move on...but knowing this franchise, probably not. The body horror of White Mage at the end was very effective. Also, go Happy! |

Lucy ends up being the weak link in Fairy Tail considering she’s NEVER won a single fight on her own.
It’s always the others who defeat her opponents for her. |

New OP is great!
I remember reading the manga and not at all expecting Irene's comeback, but using her to boost Wendy's magic and give her a new outfit was a fun twist (also, of course Irene is buck-naked as a spirit). Also, we've given Lucy and Wendy magical girl transformations, so who is next? |
