I have not been following the manga at all, so if some who does read could fill me in; Has it been building up to a conclusion for a while, or does it seem like it's very abrupt?

I don't follow the manga, but I am pretty sure it was announced last year that it would be ending by the end of 2024. I would think that would mean that the ending has been planned out for a while. |

Wow, I'm surprised. I never really thought it would happen. I hope everything wraps up well.

Heck, at this point I don't want to see how hot gonna be a cauldron of JJK fans when the ending will arrive, after seeing how people were pissed of the MHA ending. |

So now Jump has lost two of its current "big three" in less than two months. They may need to brace themselves for some hefty drops in circulation.

It's bullding to a conclusion just fine the spoiler[ last 43 chapters and going has been the final showdown with Sukuna and it's had some real twist and turns.] Anyone telling you its rushed is capping. [EDIT: Spoiler tags added. -TK] |

Its definitely been building up to a conclusion but anyone who says they expected it to end in the next 5 chapters is a liar. |

spoiler[ Sukuna had a really long final fight like Muzan but it's hard for the former to be defeated after showing off so much with previous stronger challenger. ] This arc felt more torture p#rn than Shibuya considering how characters have been dying so casually and we never got a moment of grief over them

Who'd have thought, four years ago, that Mission: Yozakura Family would one day live to be the second-oldest manga in WSJ, not counting HxH? When it was typically near the back of the magazine in those days (and chapter 40 was at the very end of the magazine). That manga has to have had some of the luckiest timing in Jump history.
(One of my Twitter mutuals at the time predicted its sister series Mitama Security: Spirit Busters -- which ended up just barely failing to hit the one-year mark -- would outlive it.) And Undead Unluck at third-oldest, and then… Me & Roboco. Which, at this rate, might honestly be the magazine's oldest series one day, correcting the imbalance that has existed since Kochikame ended. |

Like MHA, the manga is ending after their final battle…which is being fought for months and spoiler[it's having almost every character dead, except the main ones. It's quite impossible following the story after that without a BIG Deux ex Machina]. As with MHA and Demon Slayer, they have not "lied" about what their ending will be.
It's better that than "oh, but actually there was a bigger baddie after that" in Saint Seiya, Dragon Ball, Naruto, Yuyu Hakusho… |

The real problem is the disparity of audience between this "big three" and the remaining roster of WSJ is bigger than ever right now, with other current available series in no way covering up for the losses because they do not seem to have the potential to reach that numbers in a short time, already passed their prime numbers or getting close to the end themselves. |

I don't care what others say, I think the plots are wrapping up organically and I'm sure it will have a good ending. I won't deny that there are certain plots that were overextended, that some characters could have had more development, and sometimes the explanations get a bit confusing, but you have to admit that many times it's just the reader's own lack of understanding rather than the author's fault, and Gege doesn't underestimate the audience and trusts that they are paying attention to each of the explanations and logic present in the story. That said, I fully understand that many are going to be disappointed and feel that the ending will be rushed, but understanding that the focus of the story is Yuji and Sukuna's clash of ideals and purpose, I think five chapters are enough to close what we have been presented with so far.
Maybe I'm being too conformist, but the truth is that I've already felt disappointed with the endings of other great WSJ series in the past (Bleach, Reborn!, Kimetsu no Yaiba, and most recently My Hero Academia), mainly because I expected explanations and closures beyond their protagonists' plot, but knowing the way things were going with this last story arc, I already knew that JJK would not be the exception, and perhaps that's why I don't feel as cheated as other readers might feel. In any case, I thank Gege very much for all his hard work in these six years that has kept me expectant week after week. |

As much as I like JJK, I would call Gege's writing anything but "organic". It's completely erratic to say the least, and often resorting to shock value for the sake of it, but that's another issue. |
