Never got the original manga release, so this is a great opportunity.

Is it too much to ask for a new OVA or a Gunsmith Cats reboot anime?

As long as we're complaining about Dark Horse delays, they still haven't released the first vol of the Trigun omnibus releases because they keep delaying it.

I have very fond memories of Gunsmith Cats. The manga is a blast, for sure. Sonoda's art and loving detail for guns and cars is stunning, and Toren Smith's old translation is one of the best I've ever read. I even sent in a review of the manga for the old Right Turn Only!! column twelve years ago!

I think the only real issue is going to be everything involving Minnie-May Hopkins and one particular scene with sexual assault. The OVA is a lot better for avoiding these bits entirely, not gonna lie...

Here's hoping Dark Horse handles this one a little better than they did the AMG omnibuses. (What was it--seven years between volumes 6 and 7?)

Lu: Everyone who wanted to read Oh My Goddess did so with the singles. But yeah, if GSC sells, maybe they can bring back You're Under Arrest here. And as for 3x3 Eyes,if they can make Ippo and Drops of God available on digital, I do wonder why it hasn't had that second chance.

Happy to hear this news. I somehow managed to get the first three omnibus' back from a second hand book store in mint condition many years ago, and never did find the fourth one. Now, looking around at some places, it seems like the prices for these omnibus' now are insane.

Oh, and hopefully, for the fans, DH also reprints New Lone Wolf and Cub soon.

Not really. It’s also impossible to buy many of the singles now.

I seem to recall Gunsmith Cats invoking a great deal of fetishism for Rally sitting on a toilet and having to always pee badly which turned me away somewhere half-way thru and it left me not wanting to associate with it.

merr: Well, it should have reverted to Kodansha by now. Why they can't Kindle it like Mars is beyond me.

Crap! I gotta sell my copies on Ebay before the price drops. Hopefully they haven't decided to rerelease Excel Saga. I'm sitting on $500.

Pretty sure Dark Horse still has the rights to Oh My Goddess!, they just put out omnibus 7 a few months ago. I would also love to see them acting quicker on those, as that's essentially where my single volume collection stops right now Neutral

Also mark me down as another wishing they would give us the rest of Ghost Talker Daydream, a Crying Freeman reprint if they've still got it, and another run of MPD Psycho

If something being on Kindle is what mattered, no one would be in this thread. The old editions of Gunsmith Cats have been available digitally this entire time.

I was very fortunate to have bought all of Gunsmith Cats before it went out of print, including Burst. Having read through the entire series, I have to say that I feel its best iteration is the anime, which is fun and sexy without feeling icky. The manga, meanwhile, feels like it goes out of its way to put its female characters in sexual situations that made me feel really uncomfortable. Still, the original series (compiled in the four omnibuses) was, overall, fine. The sequel series Burst, however, is a massive step down that introduces an awful Stockholm syndrome/brainwashing subplot that makes no sense. That it ends of a downer is also a mark against it. This is why I will not be buying these deluxe editions, but I am glad others can now buy them without resorting to ridiculous markups for the original releases.
