I am torn because on one hand I love G Gundam, but on the other... a text format? I mean don't get me wrong, I appreciate any bone thrown our way, but that whole show's appeal was not in its writing alone, it was in the that writing being hammed up like crazy by the VAs and set to all the robots.

Oh well, regardless, I'll probably read it anyway (and if it's good I'm sure someone will do a fandub of it)

edit: okay I reread the article and I guess all details aren't exactly revealed. Maybe it'll be kind of a light novel thing? Definitely more intrigued than I was before. lol that'll treat me to actually read things twice before jumping to conclusions.

Imagawa did a Giant Robo manga after it became clear they weren't gonna let him make more of the greatest anime ever, and decided to go bug fudge crazy with it, flipping who the villains were and wildly changing personalities. Not always for the best, but I hope they let him off the chain here, too.

I knew it was probably too much to hope for new G Gundam animation, even so...

So they did have it ready for the anniversary. Had it been animation, it wouldn't have been ready.

The story is set before the finals match of the 13th Gundam Fight

I figured considering the artwork. How else would they force this new story in.

If there's a space in the G Gundam universe for expanding the lore it's the origin of the Shuffle Alliance - they were important to the story for some reason, but we never really take time and dwell on that too much. That this doesn't quite sound like they're going in that direction and are likely to shove it in before the series' original ending.... ehhh.... It's more G Gundam I guess.... Yay?

Maybe it will lead to more G Gundam things, but this is sounding like a repeat of the same issue that's been plaguing the UC timeline - that F1 and Crossbone is unexplored territory at the moment & needs new TV projects, and outside of whatever Hathaway winds up turning into, we're more likely to see a retread of Amuro's younger years with Char than any sort of substantial new Gundam project because that's been way safer to market to viewers until now.
