This is the clash of ninja engine, unless I'm mistaken.

No, this is definitely more akin to the Tatsunoko vs. Capcom or Marvel vs. Capcom 3 engine, right down to people noticing that some of the very same animations for when characters are hit or sent flying have just been copied over from TvC & MvC3.

I've seen complaints about the visual for Nen x Impact, and it did remind me that this was being published by Bushiroad instead of Bandai Namco, but I think it still looks like a fun game already. I absolutely love TvC, & MvC3 is certainly no slouch of a game either, so I might actually consider checking this game out when it launches, though I am a fair bit behind on my HxH in some ways, as I've only ever seen the Nippon Animation anime up through the first few episodes of GI Final (& the first Madhouse HxH movie). In other words, I'm nowhere near caught up.

You are correct, and I'm only partially correct. I failed to notice it was 2 dimensional only (whereas CoN had 3d movement in a sense). But one of the companies working on this game is the one that did (or helped make) the CoN games. The visuals, even the call in animations are exact replicas of some of the characters. Not a bad thing by the way. Love both series. I hate most newer anime fighting games that are mostly flash and no substance.

I'm the opposite. When I play an anime fighter I want it to be fun, cool and just like I'm playing an episode of the show. I hate when companies prioritize the FGC or competitive play over giving us just a fun anime fighter. Give me more unbalanced fun stuff like Marvel VS Capcom 2 and Smash Bros. But I suppose you can say that's the problem with anything the second you try to min/max the fun out of something and make it all about tryharding. No items, Fox only, Final Destination.

I mean, I don't make it Fox only...

It looks like it could be a decent 2D fighter.

.
That might be fun for some but objectively not fun for everyone else. I remember the days of Deidara running roughshod with his infinite combo in NUS2 and Minato with his long range shuriken which if I recall correctly could also be used as a throw on top of how he could easily break guards.
