I've never really thought about it before, but why do we get updates on JP VA marriages? Are they widely known enough that it's similar to A-list actors getting married in the US..?

More like people are so infatuated with celebs in Japan, that if someone doesn't mention it, people will riot because they're not allowed to have their own private lives.

Well yeah, being a well-known voice actor in Japan essentially means you're a celebrity, which makes sense since… you know… that's where anime comes from.

Are you asking why JP press announces it, or why ANN does? I think people have answered the first, but yeah, there are a lot of seiyuu fans in other countries too who are interested to hear that their favorite actor got married or had a kid or whatever.
What always kills me about any announcement that any JP public figure makes is that no matter what they're announcing, they all sound like the same AI wrote it.
"Thank you for your continued support. I apologize for the inconvenience, but I, _____, would like to announce ______.
Although I am still inexperienced, I will never forget my gratitude to everyone and will strive to grow even further as a _______. I would appreciate it if you could warmly watch over me.
Thank you very much for your continued support."
I mean, I hate writing up boilerplate like that too, so I avoid it and I do understand why they all sound nearly the same, but it does get kind of humorous after the first dozen such you read.

A bit of both, but mostly the former? Since, "Well, the JP press considers it newsworthy" could very well be a reason for ANN to do so as well.
But mostly curious about Japanese sociological detail behind it. I mean -- you don't see English-speaking VAs generally treated with similar celebrity by the western press (but you do see it for western movie stars). Maybe it is as simple as "Yes, anime VAs are just often so famous in Japan that they're basically analogous to western movie stars," but was curious if anyone had enough insight into Japanese media culture to know if that's the case, or if there's anything more to it than that.

Ephemera got married. Congrats. I'm confident Uemura said "*sticks out hand* Issho ni!". If you know, you know.
