Ok, another veteran seiyuu for MaoMaos mother. Not bad. And I really hope for at least one more season because LN vol. 3-4 are great and they will only tease th big story now.

I have a feeling S2 has been greenlit internally already given the popularity of the source material. But it will take time for it to be made. The thing is that anime production typically takes 2 years between greenlighting and airdate. I don't think the Production Committee was bold enough to greenlight 2 seasons right off the bat, so likely only after S1 started airing, they saw the good response and then greenlight a second one. So, that will take us to Winter or Spring 2026. But I think they want to follow-up ASAP, so may be they will push for Spring or Summer 2025. Puts the animators under a lot of pressure, but hey, that already happens a lot

I was expecting a top-tier seiyuu as the character and Houko Kuwashima fits the bill.
I wonder if there was also an intention to reference Saiunkuko Monogatari since Houko Kuwashima was the lead in that.

I hope she gets more to do in the upcoming episodes. Most commentators I read believe she is Maomao's mother.
Kuwashima's speech before the assembled nobles early in season two of Saiunkoku Monogatari may be one of the high points of her career, not to mention her stunningly complex portrayal of the bookworm-turned-yakuza-boss in Black Lagoon: Second Barrage.
