The second installment of the new Haikàra-san is on CR. And I want Ai Shite Knight and Mami back.

Candy Candy is my favorite! I wish that someday it gets a normal release!

But it's a drag that part 1 got a dub, a wide theatrical release, and a Blu-Ray, while part 2 came out in like 8 theaters nationwide, and never got a dub or a disc. It's honestly kind of an insult to the fans who tried to support it. |

I'm a fan of both The Rose of Versailles and Dear Brother (I own the manga for the former and the anime for the latter), so I'll have to check out Lady Georgie in that case.
Discotek already did license it, and I own their release on Blu-ray. I think their release was a limited one, though. |

Even though I've never seen Lady Georgie just yet, this became my first ever anime preorder, simply because I am 120% in support of getting more shoujo releases and I'll probably really enjoy this one.
Going through lists of older shows, it's always been annoying that certain genres get largely overlooked, so releases like this make me happy. It's certainly better than Discotek implying "If Sonic X doesn't sell well we won't license any more kids' stuff" when Sonic X is a horrible show... |

Discotek never said or even implied that. The most they've said is that if people want more OG Japanese versions of kids' anime then they should buy the English versions when they come out, because the JP versions have always sold less than the EN versions, so if the EN version isn't doing too hot then they won't bother to do the JP version (see: Fighting Foodons or the Beyblade trilogy). As for classic shojo anime, that's a gap in my knowledge, so I guess I'll just continue hoping for something like the Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne anime, because I've at least read the OG manga & remember enjoying it. |

Lady Georgie will be a day one purchase for me, even though I've already seen it in German. It's exactly the kind of series I'd love to see more of, and I'm really hoping it does well enough that Discotek will consider picking up similar titles. Everything in the article gets a thumbs up from me, and I'd like to throw Hello, Sandybell into the ring.

It may have been specific to Japanese versions, but the statement I'm thinking of had nothing to do with buying the English version of the same show: https://twitter.com/BradyHartel/status/1584768325438971904 |

It's so wonderful that Discotek is picking these shows up now, especially Rose of Versailles and Saint Tail, which from what they've said have sold really well. I already pre-ordered Lady Georgie, but I would love for them to license this other series I've heard about called Lady Lady. It's a super cheesy shoujo melodrama, but it's gotten no love and appreciation in any way, not even fansubs. If Lady Georgie sells well, this might open the door for Discotek to pick up more stuff like it.

I nabbed the Dear Brother BD, but haven't watched it yet. Discs don't work well for treadmill viewing, so I have to find extra time to fit those in.

It was absolutely a general message about simply supporting titles that people keep asking for, since JP Sonic X was something that people nonstop kept asking Discotek about for literal years, so if it wound up underperfoming then they'd be less likely to appease their wishes. And the Discotek/OCD crew have since literally stated in their own announcement streams that they won't bother releasing JP versions of kids anime if the English version underperforms, since the JP version always sells less in general, i.e. "If you want the JP version, then you also have to support the EN version". If you want specifics this was also stated in relation to Kinnikuman II-Sei, since the moment Ultimate Muscle was announced people asked about the JP version, and in that same stream they said that it all depends on how well UM performs. To bring this back to the subject of this thread, the same thing applies to classic shojo, and Discotek has stated as such, i.e. "If people want more of these works, then the ones that they put out have to sell well enough". |

I'd be glad for anyone to pick up the second part of the Mask Of Glass remake.

Or maybe even just the 90s OVA, if only to complete the trio of anime adaptations. |
