The title is definitely a weird choice, but because it's marketable to audiences that are more familiar with the globally popular adaptation of Super Sentai, Power Rangers.
The original Japanese title is a parody of a Dazai Osamu novel, Ningen Shikaku (Disqualified as Human / No Longer Human / A Shameful Life). The "dai" is added to emphasize 'great' or 'big', in this case, "Great Disqualification", since the team are not exactly your expected goody two-shoe boy & girl scouts typical of the genre underneath their façade and masks. |
