This was definitely worth the price. I expected something that was maybe as long as the original version, only to get something that was a legitimate expansion. I think my favorite part is how they reworked parts of the original RE4 that weren't in the Remake into this.

The one aspect of the remake that is head and shoulders better than what the original offered outside of the also superior new Mercenaries mode. Some content from what was originally part of the main campaign had to be moved into the shockingly cheap DLC to accomplish that and the PS2 bonus campaign was the first such offering in the series history.
REmake 5 is obviously the next remake and a new and improved Lost in Nightmares is an easy mark add-on of the year if done right as you can put a mini-remake of RE1 into it.

"Ada's new voice actress ocasionally sounds a bit off"
More like all the time. She's so stiff and sounds like she just reads her lines, no charm or personality behind anything. Almost as bad as Mortal Kombat 1's Megan Fox as the vampire.

Ada Sounds So Awful and lifeless in this. Why didn't they get the same voice actor from The RE2 Remake?

Posts like this are the reason why "gamers" aren't taken seriously. Pretending to be experts in fields they have no knowledge in and always talking in hyperboles. Which then leads to harassment.
Anywho, some of her parts sounding off has more to do with the voice direction than her abilities as a VA.

That reasoning might hold water if the rest of the cast sounded as lifeless and bored as Gao, except they don't. Her performance across the entire game is bad and the sound quality of her lines also sounds off compared to everyone else.
I've never harassed an actor and don't condone it, but let's not pretend they're above any and all criticism. She turned in a poor performance and having to listen to Ada is easily one of the worst parts of that game.
It's not the 'gamers' fault if something is clearly wrong with the game itself, so I would check your curious bias at the door if you want to be taken seriously.

I find it in poor taste they decided to cut this from the game to sell as DLC to begin with given how it's included in every version of RE4 they've sold since the original Gamecube version, but I guess that's just how the game industry operates these days.

Jolene Andersen who voiced her in the RE2 Remake is white and it's become taboo for white people to voice non-white roles in America. I don't know if she "willingly" stepped down or they decided to replace her on their own though. Although since Kyle Herbert still voices Ryu and Jessica Straus still voices Juri Han in Street Fighter 6 I imagine there's no hard requirement going on at Capcom USA. Laura Bailey no longer voices Chun-Li, but apparently Laura Bailey did not voice her in a couple other recent games as well and the role was done by Ashly Burch in those entries so it could be unrelated. Lily Gao also played Ada in the 2021 American live-aciton film Welcome to Raccoon City so I imagine that played some part in why they chose her this time around as well.

Lol it wasn’t in the original GameCube version and was added only after and it was clear in many parts of the original it wasn’t playtested strenuously or designed all that well.
You must’ve been thinking of Assignment Ada.

Think you might need to re-listen to Krauser his Performance while not lifeless or bored is definitely not as good as the original actor.
Gao’s performance is far from being the worst out of all the cast.

We say this about a series where gamers complained and whined about the attractiveness of the real models they scanned for Jill and Claire in the RE3 and RE2 Remakes to the point people actually made mods to tweak/replace their faces.
And that’s just one of the many stupid things I can thank of Gamer’s being at fault especially with this series. Gao’s performance in the main game is an acquired taste but again not the weakest performance in this game.
So I wouldn’t give these people criticizing her Performance too much leeway on their criticisms especially when not all of it is constructive, reasonable, or consistent.

I think by "since the original Gamecube version" they mean every release after it.
I haven't played the remake yet or this DLC since I'm waiting for it to be 10 bucks on Steam like the RE2 and 3 remakes when I picked those up. I watched some streamers play it, but I'm curious what people mean when they say it included stuff cut from the main game. The giant Salazar statue chasing you? Throne room? Laser room? Lava room? I remember noticing they cut a lot of stuff out off the top of my head when I was watching it. I guess it's nice if they're all back at least.

Probably but still it’s weird to complain about them selling it separately for 10 dollars when you essentially had to buy the PS2 and Wii versions if you wanted to play the original version of Separate Ways which again was not playtested or designed well.

Throne room is in the main game just in a different location.

Main things that come to mind: U-3 aka "It," the gondola section, and the laser hallway.

For the record, those characters were always based on/scanned from real models. Julia Voth was the face model for Jill Valentine prior to the 3 Remake and Claire's face was based specifically on Neve Campbell from Stream which came out 2 years prior to the original Resident Evil 2. It has nothing to do with being based on a real person but the remakes themselves having worse designs than the original due to either bad face scanning technology or intentional changes to de-sexualize the characters like giving Jill pants and making her "Classic" outfit shorts instead of a skirt because the Remakes were aimed at a more western audience.
But I'm not sure what your point is. Modding a game to have more attractive character is pretty standard. In same cases it's even encouraged like when fans complain about censorship or redesigns and are told to just mod that stuff if they really want the original content or designs. Also, let's not pretend that when the demo for 4's remake came out you had tons of gaming sites running wild with articles about those Leon tramp stamp shirtless mods and gushing over them. Obviously there's a double standard in the industry sphere where it's okay to do that for men and female-gaze stuff, but of all the games to bring up this point to shame people for using sexy mods it seems rather hypocritical. And it's not as if it's just the "Gamers" side that complain and whine about this stuff as well. When Street Fighter 6 came out you had gaming websites upset that Cammy had her classic leotard still and were saying how it should not be in the game anymore. And there's plenty of mods out there from those folks to remove content from games they don't like as well so let's not sit here and pretend that it's only one side tweaking games to fit their preferences in an attempt to dismiss them as merely nitpicking or being pedantic.

Thanks for proving my point about the weirdness of the RE fanbase getting hung up on unimportant stuff. Also last I checked shorts, pants, & skirts can serve the same purpose of drawing attention to a specific part of the human anatomy especially if they’re tight enough but sure let’s go with the idea that shorts & pants = less/zero fanservice.
Zoltan Kakler wrote: | But I'm not sure what your point is. |
See the first sentence of my previous comment. But to reclarify not everything the fanbase complains about regarding this series is worth taking credibly.
Zoltan Kakler wrote: | Modding a game to have more attractive character is pretty standard. |
Maybe in a game that has bland looking graphics and visuals but the remakes were the best these games looked since second generation of RE games (4,5,6). So those mods served no legit purpose.

How does a mod that affects the appearance of clothing while adding a trashy tattoo to one of the male characters. The same as a mod that’s designed to alter the physical features of the female characters faces to fix a nonexistent problem with their faces to make them more attractive, because some found their default appearances to be ugly?
Zoltan Kakler wrote: | Obviously there's a double standard in the industry sphere where it's okay to do that for men and female-gaze stuff, but of all the games to bring up this point to shame people for using sexy mods it seems rather hypocritical. |
There’s no shaming for using mods like that unless you have them active in a public setting like a tournament for example.

Given how sexism has been a prevalent problem in the industry it’s pretty easy to to call out one side for how they think women should be exclusively portrayed, written, or designed in most games even after the whole Gamergate fiasco.

If you seriously think that Krauser's performance is worse than Gao's then you're delusional. Krauser's performance isn't bad it's just that the actor they hired is horribly miscast. The devs decided to give Krauser a weird, raspy Starscream-like voice that doesn't suit a character like Krauser at all.
Also, I see what it is that you're trying to do by bringing up a completely off topic example of some RE fans misbehaving. You're using the classic game journalist approach of deflecting legitimate criticism by trying to paint all the people who are handing out said criticism as either "basement dwellers" or "entitled gamers".
And you're actually defending Gao's flat as hell performance by saying it's "an acquired taste"!? Really bro!? You call someone who sounds like they're phoning in their lines for a quick and easy paycheck "an acquired taste"!? That just sounds like cope to me.
I watched a stream of someone playing the Separate Ways DLC and in that stream both the streamer and their chat were disappointed because they were hoping that Ada's voice acting would be better than it was in the main game. So no, people aren't criticizing Gao's voice acting because their a part of some insidious operation that's being orchestrated by incels a lot of people are criticizing her voice acting because her performance in this game just sucks.

Most people's first versions were probably the PS2 and Wii versions. A lot of people to this day still consider the Wii version the best for it's controls.
Although hearing that they added stuff from the main game to it does make it seem a bit more suspect. Criticize the original Separate Ways if you want, but if this version is better simply because it includes stuff that was moved over from the main game to pad it out and then sold back to the consumer then that doesn't seem like a boasting point worth rallying behind. The most generous reading one might give it is the game was rushed and unfinished and they needed more time to finish it so they moved that stuff over to the post-release DLC to give them a bit more time to finish everything. Basically, if the boss fights and other content here were still in the base game and they only kept the other stuff here would it be just as good? I haven't really been a fan of the remakes in general so I know I'm not the audience for this game but at least fans can experience some of the stuff they cut out of the main game this time around unlike 2 and 3 where the stuff cut from the remakes never resurfaced even as DLC.
