Hopefully whoever it is at the company that's anti-union departs at some point, if it's not this guy. That didn't really exist with FUNimation (who produced many SAG dubs to get old casts back); that started with the Crunchyroll takeover.

Well, I hope things improve for the company moving forward.

It's strange how Crunchyroll got it's start with illegal fansubs and being hit by C&D orders from Funimation in the earlier days. Then Crunchyhroll went legit, Funimation goes through a mess of new owners, before finally being devoured by Cruncyroll.

Well, yes and no. Funimation was definitely more willing to go the extra mile to reunite casts, or cast a wider net in terms of who they cast in shows (just look at how varied MHA or Black Clover's greater cast is right now), but the company itself was always anti-union. That's why their main studio is in a union-optional state like Texas.
I do agree that things have definitely changed, and I'd point at the merger as the main reason for that. Sony has a near monopoly on anime dubs, and they want to do as much in house as possible to restrict costs.

Technically Funimation bought Crunchyroll but they decided to use the Crunchyroll name because it was better known worldwide. And Funimation didn’t really have a mess of owners. Gen sold it once and then bought it back before finally selling to Sony.
