Well that's crazy. You definitely don't see a headline like that every day.

Good Lord an entire family considered suicide together? What in the name of all that is good would cause a whole family to consider it?

Has Japan's method with coping with suicidal thoughts and depression really that bad? oh here is an idea instead of tryin to help lets make it worse but arresting the guy to a mutual consented self euthinization.

I just... can't

It said in the article that it was in response to a magazine article that said the actor
was allegedly involved in bullying and sexual abuse.

If those allegations are true then the parents probably thought it was better
to die then to live with the shame that their son (allegedly) brought to their family.

My thoughts exactly. It's an old thing that happened in the past and unfortunately carries into the future.

This comes off fairly xenophobic as assisted suicide is legal in quite a number of countries. It's kind of weird to single Japan out here and make it out like they have a problem in this area alone.

We don't really know for sure that there even was a suicide pact. We only have his word on that. He may have simply just murdered his parents with poison.

Um, that’s your take? No. Just . . . no.

Yes, assisted suicide is legal in some countries for people who are terminally ill or are suffering from permanent intractable pain. Assisted suicide is NOT legal anywhere for people who are ashamed of a family member—especially not when that same family member is the one assisting them with their suicide.

But, this is a horrible tragedy. One of the saddest news items I’ve read here this year. My heart goes out to the rest of the family.

It's probably worth rereading the article while keeping in mind that what we have is not mum and dad's opinion on whether they should die, but what the son says mum and dad's opinion was on whether they should die. There's a small bit significant difference between the two, which may explain why the Japanese authorities are approaching this the way they evidently are.

Its not about Assisted suicide i have the problem, is that the entire family had to do it.
Not only that i actually condemned they are prosecuting them for doing something that was still their choice.

If your trying to do some social justice crap, it is transparently clear.

Seems to me this was the three’s business, not anyone else’s. Unsure why anyone else is involving themselves and persecuting them for it, which does nothing but likely spur him to have even stronger feelings of suicide. If he commits suicide later during this process, ironically the government would be responsible for just what it is prosecuting him for.

I have heard crazy stories before of families going together, but I think this is the most publized one.
