I hope this series brings as much joy to others as it has done for me.

That bathing suit was SO GREAT! I was so nervous to see what she finally picked. And I was so proud of her for really going for a cute colorful suit. It was like the sun coming out from behind the clouds. I literally raised my hands in the air and cheered when I saw it. Way to go, Nishimura!!!

I was kind of put off by Takada's naivety in the first episode, but by the second episode it reached critical mass and became funny in a good way. Looking forward to more of this.

Nishimura is a really convincing character, but Takada not so much.. His "act" is funny at first but i hope he evolves a little.

That bathing suit really was super cute! Previous commenter wanted more character development with Taiyō, and we see it fully here. When Akane reveals her suit to him, he stands there staring to the point where Akane becomes embarrassed. He later says that she is super cute in that suit. Although initially attracted to her because she was the "Grim Reaper", this reaction might indicate something more beginning to register with our young Hero.
"My Clueless First Friend" is truly a super-power anime so far.

Episode 4

This is like the anti-Teasing master Takagi-san, but in the sweetest, most heartfelt good way.

spoiler[Those looking for character development in Taiyou, I think it starts in earnest in episode four (judging from the preview title for episode five, it looks like it continues).]

This episode had me in tears at the end. Seeing Taiyou come to the realization that he may have been unkowingly saying something hurtful to someone he genuinely cares about hit really hard. Especially because we know he's only been a ray of sunshine for Akane.

I was in tears, too. His apology was so heartfelt, and that’s so rare. It was really lovely. I’m just loving this show!

I kind of figured Nishimura's mom was dead but the revelation of that and Takada's own realization about how calling her a "grim reaper" might be construed was handled really well and showed a new layer to Takada.

But hey, at least the grandma ships them!

Episode 4 is truly a smash hit out of the park. When I began "My Clueless First Friend" some 4 weeks ago, was not expecting anything more than a cute story, but man, the artists here are reaching "Natsume Yūjin-chō" level of feels.Taiyō Takada is a true shonen hero just as the OP shows, he really does care for Akane Nishimura and rather deeply. Its a hoot that the Grandma already knows him.Taiyō aint as clueless as we were first lead to believe.
"My Clueless First Friend" is now my number 1 for the season, and perhaps for the year.

Seconded. This anime — alongside A Silent Voice — should be required viewing for kids to teach about why not to bully, and how to help those who are being bullied.

Yeah, count me among the weepers. Smile This episode was definitely a turning point, not only in terms of plot but also as to my engagement with the series. I'd been slowly adjusting to Takeda's relentless sunshine, but this was a revelation in more ways than the obvious.

Also made me really hungry. A nice subtle advertisement for the joys of country living, eh?

Poor Kuro in the cat carrier. He was probably afraid they were boxing him up to abandon him again, taking him off to a nice farm upstate...

Episode 5

Pretty amazing that they just keep hitting it out of the park with this show.

Some nice Takada verbal jiu-jutusu over rings this episode.

Omg, he finally wore something without "mustache' on it! More hamsters, please. Smile (do we know yet why he's so attached to that design?)
