You know, I want to be excited for this, but season 2 burned me pretty hard.

I’m hoping this is going to be better than S2.

I dropped S2 around halfway because it was a disaster, so I won't watch this either. Too bad, I quite liked S1... Sad

Well, there is a change S3 won't be a complete trainwreck, as to how big that change is though.....

I don't read the LN, but the change in staff gives me hope it will be much better in presentation, at least.

You're probably gonna drop the ball again like what you did with Season 2.

Honestly....who cares anymore? There are so many other shows that do what Shield Hero does, but better. Additionally, season 2 was so bad a lot of people just gave up, nevermind the fact that the main story arc that people liked (Nofumi clearing his name against princess who-cares-what-her-name-is) got resolved in Season 1.

What? Are we supposed to get hyped for "missing slaves"? Like, seriously, none of these characters are likable enough or interesting enough for me to watch them go on more adventures. The MC's dickishness was sanded down for the anime adaption, and the rest are either Loli's, children, annoying, or look like women but actual age is QUESTIONABLE at best.

A season 3 made sense when season 1 was THE hot show, but now? Who is this for?

This is only speculation on my part, but they announced both seasons 2 and 3 back when season 1 ended, which makes me think the production committee had already funded it. Covid likely caused a lot of management issues during season 2's production, so... season 3 probably exists as a matter of course because it was already locked in.

I've dropped the show since trying to read the novels and finding them worse than the anime, as well as because I heard season 2 really messed up, but here's hoping they get their act together for this arc so people still watching can enjoy it. I hear it's one of the better arcs. Even if I dislike the show, the fans deserve better.

Although it had a strong start Season 2 was pretty bad overall, so I don't see us (my wife and I) returning to watch Season 3.

Focusing on finding the three stooges and more slaves? Great way to win back the audience.

It's funny that you would smugly ask "who cares anymore" cause I just checked MAL's Fall anime 2023 list and it turns out Shield Hero S3 is actually in first place. And what's more it actually has more than twice the amount of members that Spy X Family S2 (which is also coming out in the fall) has. So I'd say quite a few people still care about Naofumi and co.

This reminds me of when it was announced that Arifureta was getting a second season and there was a lot of cynicism surrounding the news with a lot people saying things like "how the hell did this show get another season!" But then the second season ended up being a huge improvement over the first season. So there's always the chance that Shield Hero can course correct as well and deliver a third season that's a huge step up from the last one.

From what I understand, the arc they’re covering is a massive improvement over the Spirit Turtle. So here’s hoping the follow through is there.

Mh, if the anime will adapt properly a part of the story that it's actually good, I may try giving it a chance again. I'll wait for more opinions after it airs, though.
