episode 10-11
I get it, harem protag potato has to be chaste even with his declared "wife." But c'mon... you can't even confirm if the baby is "his" by standard means? Is that going to be some joke? Are we finally going to get the punchline for the obvious "sex room" they built in that earlier episode?
Do they just get him drunk and take turns?
Guy's such an expert, why can't he figure out how to use his "ultimate farming tool" to plow all those untilled verdant virgin fields?

I was a bit taken off guard by the pregnancy too. Not that it happened, exactly, but that it happened without there ever being any acknowledgement of a relationship, or the fact that farmer-kun is apparently still sleeping alone in his bed at nights, or that there's been no mention of him thinking about the reality of becoming a father. If this conception happened off screen, was it a one night stand, or are farmer-kun and the mom exclusive, or are there also things happening off screen with the angel? Is somebody else the dad? Do vampires have some kind of parthogenesis?

Count me among the confused. So confused, it didn't even occur to me that Machio might be the father. Was there actually any mention of that? Given the title of both the episode and the new character, I thought the Progenitor might be the vamp baby daddy but apparently not. Could this be an immaculate conception? I'd find that easier to believe as opposed to Machio, who I'm not sure even has genitalia, being the dad.

See, this is the point where Alan45 or Harleyquinn or Netero are supposed to come in and explain everything because they've read the source material...

So I did a little internet research - enough to find out that Hiraku is indeed the father of the vampire's baby. Not only that, apparently baby number two with the angel is on the way.
It turns out that the reason Hiraku has been desperately looking for more males is because in the light novels, he's not only living with two active love interests, but he's also been...ummm...meeting the needs of all the elves and oni maids in his community every night, to the point where he's exhausted. He isn't averse to being a breeding horse, but he's not getting any sleep.
Which is totally different from how the anime has presented it, presumably because it didn't want to get the interspecies reviewers treatment (can't remember the exact name of that anime).
So that's what's going on.

Thanks for that info, Edjwald. Wow, talk about source material - adaptation differences. The novels are obviously way more realistic. I mean, no way he wouldn't be tapping that fine angel booty just for one example, come on. Yeah, I have a lot more respect for Novel Hiraku, that's for sure.
Given the novel's inclusion of Hiraku's nocturnal pursuits, it sounds like they could have just as easily made the title, "F...ing Life in Another World" where "arm" is replaced by three different letters. And the first different letter is a "u". But that's the last hint you'll get from me! You'll have to carefully puzzle out the rest of my mysterious suggestion on your own, sorry to say. Good luck!

Now see here, I’m afraid I have to take issue with your post this time, Blood. I grant you that there’s been a little bit of infighting between the angel and the vampire, but it’s relatively tame by harem standards. And yeah, a couple of kingdoms have expressed apprehension, but all of them seem to want to avoid war. With a feel good anime like this one, there’s no way it should be called Fussing in Another World. That’s just gross mischaracterization....

And that was the last episode. I love the novel and I now love almost all of the anime. Despite it being a calm/relaxing series it kept me hooked until the very end and it is great to see the village become bigger and more crowded. A special compliment to the very fitting music.
I hope to see a second season someday since lots more crazy things happen later on.

Yup. If you sent "Reincarnated as a Slime" to a spa, let it sip mango health drinks spiced with melatonin and Chamomile while soaking in a hot tub between massages and colonics, you'd get something like this anime.
Enjoyed it.

Episode 12, Finale
So Plow Boy really is the father. Huh. This finale reminded me how little anime usually deals with pregnancy. It's rare enough for an MC in a isekai/fantasy show to become a dad and this season we've had two: here and Chillin' in my 30s After Getting Fired from the Demon Army. A trend, perhaps? Yeah, probably not. In any case, it's time to say goodbye to this village of lushes, at least for the time being. I rated this a strong Decent. That's pretty much as high as I can go for an isekai with an OP protag that doesn't really have any kind of narrative juice. To get a better rating from me you have to bring something extra to the table the way Handyman Saito does: strong comedy, really engaging characters, narrative flair, emotional bonds, etc. But hey, this show delivered a pleasant viewing experience and defied my pre-viewing expectations. I was especially dubious because there had been another farming isekai the title of which I've already forgotten not to long ago that I dropped pretty quickly.
Would definitely return to watch the rise of Great Tree Village 2.

@Edjwald
Just saw your plaintive cry for help above. Sorry but I'm not able to help here. I have no interest in anything involving farming of any kind. Something based on farming is either going to be a farce (which apparently this is) or seriously depressing. I grew up in a rural area surrounded by farms. I've seen what it involves, even worked haying when I was a teenager. With machinery it is brutally hard work. Most older farmers have bad backs. Without machinery in a semi feudal world like most anime it is soul destroying.
For the record, I checked Amazon. This series has eight volumes of the light novel available with the ninth up for pre order. $10 a volume for electronic and $12 for paperback. Have at it.

I have the same reaction when people romanticize raising chickens when they're talking about their apocalypse fantasies. My grandfolks had a farm in the blueridge mountains, and helping with that chicken coop was some nasty business. Vegetarians might want to close their eyes for the second half of this sentence, but every time I eat chicken, I have a satisfied, hostile gleam in my eye.
Anyhow, I appreciate the effort you made. I would add that I'm about 98 percent sure that the light novels you mentioned are the manga. Amazon does a crappy job distinguishing between light novels and manga, so I always check the "Look Inside" option, Their manga sometimes give a pretty hefty glimpse into the material, which is how I got some of the information I got.

You are probably right that what Amazon has is the manga. I just took a quick look. I noted that it didn't say graphic novel and just assumed it was the light novel. They are fairly good at indicating when both are available but iffy if only one version is present.
