Complaining about "out of place" holiday episodes will never not be ridiculous. Do you complain when you get to holidays in Persona games and it's not that same day in real life too? Pitch a fit when December 25 comes around and you're not playing on Christmas day? It's an adaptation of multiple books that were written years ago; obviously not everything's going to line up the same way.

I love Season 2 Mii! She's the best, and yes, totally relatable.
There hasn't been much "plot development" this season, but this is one of those shows that doesn't really need it, so whatevs. The fight scenes remain great as well.

I can't say for the Persona series or any game whose timeline is based on your own free time but if I had to draw a wacky example, I can think of the global release of Arknights, whose event timelines lag 6 months behind its initial CN release. The result is that we get events of a winter wonderland in the dead of summer and summertime sadness during Christmas.
I personally don't take much issue with it, more so because I don't think the options to resolve it are feasible. (too expensive to push the global timeline up to match CN's, problematic to lag one year behind) Is there someone who finds that unacceptable? Maybe, but I can understand the logic so I'll forgive it.
In terms of these shows, I would straightforwardly assume the director has control over which episodes get released on what date, and would plan holiday-based episodes accordingly. That being said, when the quarter that the season is being aired doesn't happen to include the holiday being celebrated, it's like...are you gonna restrict every anime release whose source material has a Christmas episode to Autumn?
I'll give the benefit of the doubt if the season of release doesn't have that particular holiday, but it'd irk me if the seasons do match and the director fudges it by releasing a Christmas episode a few weeks off from actual Christmas.

That actually happened with this season's Buddy Daddies which started like two weeks after Christmas and the first episode was a Christmas one. It didn't bother me too much since it was at the beginning of the show.

The director is the main person behind the creative output of a series, but he does choose something like the order of episode releases or the general time of when it gets released. That's the job of producers, plus the fact that there is an actual, you know, Planning role/credit for anime.

I'm gonna assume you meant the director doesn't choose the order and time.
I'm not savvy with who does what regarding tv, but yeah, ok. Doesn't change the original issue that if someone was able to line up a Christmas episode with Christmas week (doesn't even have to be a specific day/time, just the bloody week) and decided not to, it would be slightly irritating.
And to specify, I'm talking holiday-dedicated, non-plot-progressive, 95% filler episodes that could be effectively cut from the series. I honestly can't think off the top of my head of any series that came upon this oddly specific issue so it's honestly not worth mentioning anyway.

I was watching a rerun of a Happy Days Christmas episode last week and I was shocked to see that it's not actually the 1950s anymore. Totally ruined the experience for me.
Other than that I'm enjoying the second season of Bofuri.

In response some of the things brought up in the discussion (as someone who has read the web novel):
1. If you have issues about a Bofuri starting things off with an Xmas episode in January, then you may want to avoid the web novel for a while, as another Xmas-themed event has started in New World Online (with the latest chapter having Maple, Sally, and the twins farming for event-only items).
2. The "summon" system for New World Online was likely planned ahead of time. The developers just weren't expecting Maple and Sally to access it early.
3. Speeding through the 7th Event (and a good chunk of stuff covered in the first four episodes) is basically Silver Link realizing that the real meat of the season is going to be the 7th Layer, while the stuff leading up to suffers from various flaws in the original source (4th Layer being mostly short stories, the exploration of the 5th Layer taking a backseat in favor of Maple's Oni battle and the 6th Event, the 6th Layer and 7th Event lacking the ensemble aspect of the series).
4. In terms of Haku (Kasumi's snake partner), you're definitely reading way too much into it. It being Kasumi's partner is at least part of the nods to the Four Gods that is featured in Bofuri.

I haven't seen anything other than two best friends hanging out. I don't see any definitive proof Sally and Maple are a couple...
